Does anyone have a link to a replay of the game? I couldn't find one anywhere

For all those that couldn't watch the game, or had to watch online but had to deal with that constant buffering bullshit like myself... look down. No commercials, and decent quality.

So many potential captains:

Off: Golson, Cam, Lombard, Martin, Koyack
Def: Day, Ishaq, Schmidt, Jaylon, KVR, Collinsworth
ST: Brindza

Obviously guys like Koyack, Ishaw, Collinsworth would be surprising but they are seniors so who knows. Lot of options.

There is such a small chance that Everett will be a captain that I'm not sure it's worth even mentioning him. Team captains have to be approved by a faculty committee. They have turned down guys in the past. Knowing one of the members of the committee and having asked that individual about what sorts of things would lead the committee to vote against a captain, I have little faith the EG could be a captain this year. Just my humble opinion

Schmidt and KVR seem like the most likely candidates on the defensive side of the ball. Collinsworth wouldn't surprise me, either-- 5Y, likely starter and reportedly very smart.

Offense is much harder to predict; C McDiesel is probably the best candidate, but Lombard or N. Martin might make sense, too.

When's the last time an Irish K was named a captain?

In my opinion, Everett can and should be an offensive captain. He doesn't need any more punishment or reprimands for his mistakes, he needs the coaches nod and the reigns to this offense.

The WRs are young and will need a strong presence from their QB. Dude has been to the show, it's his time to man up.

As I suggested earlier, it is more complicated than just the coach's nod. At Notre Dame, team captains have to be approved by a faculty committee. It seems unlikely to me that he could gain this approval due to his academic transgressions.

If George W. Bush could be elected President twice, I'm sure Everett could be elected captain.

Just rewatched it looking at defense because I think it's natural to watch the O in a game like this. Some thoughts:

-The QBs threw for a bunch of yards. How many passes were completed against KVR and Cole Luke? None? A lot of people made big plays but our two top CBs locked stuff down for the most part. Means they're either really solid cover corners, or our WRs aren't as good as we're billing them to be. I think it's the former.

-The DL is already far superior in their pass rushing upside to the line we rolled out last year. They're not going to be nearly as potentially dominant as a healthy Nix/Tuitt/Day... but Jarron Jones has great ability, Day is playing his natural position, and Okwara looks solid. Ishaq is meh, not enough moves for someone in his 4th year. He's just not developed as an edge rusher and doesn't have the motor of Okwara.

-Rochelle seems like he's going to get locked in as your "standard" or short down & distance SDE. Matuska looks like he's actually going to be an impact player at DT. If we get a couple more guys to step up from frosh, etc. then I think our DL will be great sans injury. I don't know where most of the pessimism was coming from in terms of their pass rushing ability... they're not all A+ players, but they're a better group than the vast majority of teams on our schedule.

-BVG absolutely has to get Doug Randolph ready to play SAM, and Deeb ready to play MIKE. This isn't optional. This speed linebacker crap is going to be great for ASU, North Carolina, Louisville, etc. But if you think a linebacker group of Turner/Schmidt/Smith has a prayer against Stanford you are smoking something good. They will get absolutely run over. They are NOT big enough. USC, Michigan, and FSU might also command "strength" but I'm not sure. I'm hopeful that Tranquill can come in and compete for the WILL spot immediately too if Jaylon is looking like he's primarily going to play SAM/MIKE and they want a speedy "cover" LB for that spot.

The play Luke made on the ball near the goalline against Fuller(?) was nice. IIRC Fuller beat him off the line but Luke caught up and made a very athletic play. I think he could have a breakout season.

On Randolph and Deeb I totally agree. Physically they look like a pair of BCS Champ LB's. I was really happy to see Okwara turn it on. I agree that the Dline looked good. It is easier to look better when instead of tackling it's touch but still they were getting push and pressure.

Really hoping Shummate can find a way to start aside Max. Our secondary would be killer, but seems like it's Colinsworth's job.
