Patriots.com is running a "Patriots Mock Draft Tracker" where they report what 12 draft 'experts' predict what the Patriots will do at #29 in the 1st rd. So far 8 of the 12 have submitted a mock and 3 of the 8 have the Patriots selecting Tuitt. 4 of the 8 have them selecting TE Jace Amaro (TX Tech) and one has DT Aaron Donald. 2014 Patriots Mock Draft Tracker

I think Tuitt will be the most interesting ND prospect to follow leading up to and during the draft. Martin and Nix will both go high (#11-20 range), but I think Tuitt may fall to the late 1st, and possibly, out of the 1st round. Niklas will end up being the 3rd TE taken in the mid-to-late 2nd / early 3rd. My personal dream Patriots scenario is Tuitt at #29 and Niklas in the 2nd or 3rd.

I saw that Kiper said today Niklas is at #3 with the potential to move up to #2. He thinks his blocking puts him ahead of ASJ and if he can show good offensive skills at the combine he could move up to that #2 spot.

It will be interesting to see what happens. It really all depends on what type of TE the team selecting the "#2" TE is looking for. Niklas is a much different player than Jace Amaro, and even though ASJ is more similar, he will have to answer a lot of 'character' questions leading up to the draft, in addition to perform during the physical portions of evaluation. Niklas really should have come back to school, but he'll make some team very happy in the 2nd or 3rd round. For his sake, hopefully it's as the #2 TE off the board.

2014 NFL Draft

I think Tuiitt is going to blow away the combine. I just can't see him fallin out of the 1st round. If he is at 29 I don't see how the pats could not take him. Shoot id love for the 9ers to take him at 30.

if clowney goes first overall i think tuitt will go mid 1st round

I've always been a big supporter of trading the #1 overall pick unless there is an absolute can't miss QB available. I always think a team can do better for itself by dropping back a bit and stockpiling picks. I believe teams over value the #1 and will always overpay.

While I agree that is the case sometimes, last year the first overall pick was not valued particularly high. This year though between Clowney and Bridgewater, there should be a premium.

Typically a team picking #1 has many holes and are probably best served dropping back a few spots while picking up extra picks. This year, I don't think Clowney or Bridgewater are franchise changing and think Houston is better served trading back.

Early-entry players into NFL draft a concern

I thought this statistic was interesting. I didn't realize the percentage of guys going early but not getting drafted was so high lately.

More troubling than the increase in the number of underclassmen coming out is the dramatic increase in the percentage of juniors who are being left by the wayside. In the last two drafts, 42 of the 138 juniors who came out (30.4 percent) went undrafted. In the previous three drafts, just 25 of 155 (16.1 percent) didn't get selected.

Also talks about how risky it is to make the jump just to work for the second contract which reminded me a lot of Niklas.

Totally agree. It's not really that I'm opposed to a Michigan man being on the Giants (Stevie Brown was good in 2012), it's just that I don't think Lewan is that good. Gets away with holding every other play.

So, if you feel like losing, oh, loads and loads of time to internet BS, here's an NFL draft simulator. Pick a team, make the picks, make trades etc vs their computer. It's...addicting.

Carr will still be there in the 2nd round, if they pick them with their 1st pick they are truly doomed.

i agree he's not a 1st round talent, but how many times have we seen a team trade back into the first round to snag the last remaining QB? i think that will be the case with Carr he'll end up going in the 20-30 range

If they want to use their second 1st round draft pick on him, then fine. But to waste a top five pick when there are clearly better options would be truly dumbfounding (and right up their wheelhouse).
