Wiltfong just posted that the staff will visiting the 2014 LB that they spoke about in last weeks TV tomorrow. The kids family requested they not say anything so thats why they haven't came out and said his name yet. Kid is having a great senior season for a winning program and if a offer came they don't expect an immediate commitment but do expect us to be a major player. So it wasn't Brandon Lee.

I'm assuming it's an ILB and not an OLB? And do we have any idea if this player is committed?

TV didn't specify and Wiltfong hasn't yet either, from what I've seen. I'm assuming ILB target as well considering it seems more of a pressing need. No the player isn't committed and is just starting to receive high major interest.

Yes...but he is only currently committed to kicking a$$ and chewing bubble gum and he's all out of bubblegum!

While perusing the 24/7 ILB rankings I came across Jakob Johnson. He fits the profile Wiltfong suggested (LB, few offers, and moving up in the rankings currently).

This is pure speculation on my part. I'm curious who it could be.

is this to keep recruiting to a minimum??? i know you don't know from the post, just curious ...i would assume so they don't get hounded by recruiting services

I think the whole secrecy thing made that kind of obvious. Good to know he is an ILB though---lord knows we need 1. Or 3.

Oh, my bad. Now I'm confused because TP says he is committed but Wiltfong says he isn't?

Nile Sykes LB from Chicago, he's having a strong senior season so far. Is starting to catch the eye of bigger schools. Some posters at BGI have been talking about this kid for awhile.

Steve has now confirmed that he isn't committed elsewhere.

I haven't read any of the posting on 247, so maybe I'm missing something obvious here. But what possible reason could an uncommitted prospect's family have for telling Steve that ND is showing interest, and then asking them not to report it...? Doesn't really make sense at all.

Wouldn't surprise me if there are multiple "surprise" ILBs out there getting evaluated on their senior film that ND is pursuing now that they've missed on bigger fish... I don't know if that is causing some cross talk or something. But there are definitely some ILBs committed elsewhere that ND has ongoing contact with and is pursuing. Whether any of those are who Steve won't name I'm not sure, but why would Steve not be able to talk about interest in an uncommitted prospect?
