I found Ben to be weird in general, but in a good, angry, football sense. I think he and Grace are going to be enforcers.

I would love to see Councell move inside in 2014 and have him and Grace man the Mike and Will positions in 2014 and 2015.

I would as well with Deeb rotating in. Then have Jaylon and Okwara at the Dog and Ishaq and Randolph at the Cat.

Yeargin and Bonner will both reportedly start at ROLB, so we should be OK there. I think Randolph stays at ILB (unless he ends up just being a poor fit there) simply due to our depth concerns.

Only problem I see with that is who becomes 2nd string DOG? You need someone there to spell Smith or replace him if he's hurt. I suppose you could have Turner or Okwara there but don't think Turner would be ready to play meaningful minutes and seems like not the best place for Okwara.

I could live with that. I didn't realize that Randolph was at the ILB spot. That IMO is a good thing. Then Blankenship getting reps at the CAT as well. We look loaded there.

I know it's moot point now but I would have liked to see Spond in the MIKE spot. I was truly impressed with him last year, such a damn shame.

Before Sponds situation I thought this would play out this year if Jaylon and okwara are ready. It will be fun watching this situation unfold.

I also hope Martini has a deeb like senior year...

Fair question, but my philosophy would be you get your top LBs on the field and in 2014, the top four LBs will likely be Ishaq, Smith, Councell and Grace. Do you sacrifice a starting position (ILB) so you have better depth at another position (DOG)? Our 2nd string LB corps will be weakened somewhere simply due to lack of numbers.

I totally agree. I've never been a fan of moving Councell inside. With his speed and length he is just too perfect for DOG.

It's been reported at different times that the staff believes that Bonner, Yeargin and Randolph can all play either inside or outside, although I think all were recruited primarily as outside LBs. I think the staff will just want to evaluate them all when they get on campus/back to health and decide which one is best suited to slide inside.

This is crazy...it is like we stopped practicing. Where is the footage?

the footage has gotten progressively poorer every year of the BK era. Perhaps they are suspicious of opponents gathering information from them? My bet is Jack Nolan keeps all the footage for himself.

I think that practice closes every year to media a week or two before season starts. I could be wrong though

its one thing to close it to the media but UND.com could still throw out some little edits of practice for us to salivate over. Its not too big a deal to just let us watch Greg Bryant run around a few cones.

I have no problem with the lack of footage. Nothing for us to watch, but also nothing for other teams to watch. If I were a college coach, I'd put out hours of film of my walk-ons doing drills to be a smart *** if fans complained about the lack of practice footage.

The lack of footage and quality footage at that makes me a little upset. They aren't hiding anything useful. Watching players hit one on one or running drills is not tipping a hand. And who cares if Temple knew exactly what we were going to do anyway, we aren't worried about them. Just don't show the plays that we are going to run for Michigan, although it is pretty self-explanatory...Some pistol and nothing else will change except maybe a little more misdirection. Not hard to figure out, especially for a def. coordinator that knows the game. Not an excuse for lack of footage imo. I wish they let other media in practice but they want the revenue dollars from the advertising they have on the small clips, pitiful.

10 days away!

when Pete Carroll was at USC and they were in their prime every single practice was open the media, public and whatever Will Ferrell types were there. He didnt give a crap who saw them and what they did cos he knew that they could pretty much plow over any team in the nation. I like that way of thinking.
