Just like Les Miles' interest' in Arkansas and the $5 Million a year deal they offered...

There are two reasons why Les Miles can't wait to get on the news and tell everyone about any school that might be interested in him:
1.) More Money
2.) It makes his many detractors here in Baton Rouge take pause and realize even though Saban is no longer here, it could certainly be worse, and there are other places that would appreciate him.

He does this knowing full well, he will never leave this job, a moron can win 9 or 10 games and guess what? A moron does.

Hopefully he is doing this to gain experience in the interview process. I've known guys to do interviews just to gain that type of experience.

On the off chance he does leave for BC, I will lose a bit of faith in the NCG game.

I hope so. I'm trying to think positive thoughts about this. Part of me thinks that if you were iin Diaco's position you might not want to take the first major-conference HC job that came your way. You might prefer to wait a few years till ND has really regained powerhouse status, and then you'll be a candidate for ANY job that becomes available. But maybe I'm dreaming.

Boston College Football Coaching Search: Notre Dame DC Bob Diaco To Interview - BC Interruption

Says Diaco will interview for BC job in the next few days. Not what I reallly want to hear, but you know he deserves a shot at a Head Coaching job if he desires.

Tough pill to swallow. But i have faith in BK, the position will be filled and we will keep rolling on defense.

I am feeling better about this: They contacted him; there are beaucoup other qualified candidates. I think he is included for due diligence, and this is good exercise for him. I don't see him selecting such a competitive school.

You're always positive for us.

Thanks.

Here is where people have a problem. Saying someone is "interest in the job" out front, versus "will interview" is two entirely different things. We have bumped heads on this before as you have others on this site. You either don't have the intelectual sophistication to understand this or you should be characterised when you make comments like this as oh, I don't know, a troll.

I see Diaco staying on for at least another year, but I have a hard time seeing him content as a coordinator forever. We can pay top line coordinators as much as many mid level schools (since Weis, Jenkins and Swarbrick changed our foolish compensation policies).

Part of holding out for a better deal is understanding what the lesser deals are.

I really think Diaco will end up at ND taking over for Kelly, (five to seven years, Diaco will be in his early to mid-forties) or head coach at Iowa. ND is connection and character; Iowa is alma mater; neithe will open up for a few years. Diaco may be a brilliant DC, but he has a few to do IMO to be an equally brilliant head coach, and he doesn't want to be average at anything!

Amazing how a move from OSU to UT is now a downgrade.

This is apparently not going over well in Stillwater. Apparently Gundy makes around $4m a year. Not only is UT after him (and it looks like he is listening), but Arkansas is also talking with him. I am watching this one closely.

Reports say CU has offered job to Butch Jones. Last I heard, UC was still expecting him at 1 pm presser to discuss bowl game. Stay tuned.

Colorado has zero expectations right now... but if the money was anywhere near the same at Cinncy I would have stayed...

CU has better facilities, better campus, plays in a better conference and has way more tradition. He also has another 13.5 million reasons to go, if you catch my drift.

Beautiful scenery (both actual and the ladies), hub airport with cheap direct flights and legal weed don't hurt recruiting either.

Well they do have a 1/2 National Championship more than Cincy. Wasn't that the year of the infamous 5th Down Win?

Careerwise CU gets the edge on winning %, slightly under 60% in wins while UC is slightly over 50%.

But their recent trends have CU nose diving while UC is churning out double digit seasons.

CU, 1-11, last won 10 in 2001, UC 9-3, has won 10, or more, in 4 of the past 6 season with 3 different head coaches. CU has been more familar with 10 or more losses.

CU has played in much more powerful conferences but that's like asking Mississippi St about success in the SEC. How's the view from the basement?

Sagarin has UC ranked #45 and CU #151. Sagarin has UC a 3+ TD favorite over CU.

CU is where coaches go to watch their careers die. UC has been a launching pad for Dantonio, Kelly, and now Jones.

NCAA Probations? CU wins 5-4. Gotta love that tradition.

Scenery: Rocky Mountain High! Of course how much time does a Winning Coach get to enjoy scenery? Willingham got to see a lot of golf courses but then ...

Dude, just because you don't like them doesn't mean that you have to make a weak attempt at marginalizing them as a program. Did they have a bad year this year? Sure, but so did we in '07. Was ND a bad job then?

The reality is that Cinci is a program with terrible facilities (Kelly bitched about this shortly before he left) and play in a dying conference. Look at their peers in their conference. It's a joke. Meanwhile, CU plays in the PAC12.

Miss St's view from the basement of the SEC has a lot better view than any of the views from the front porch of the Big Least.

and finally, the scenery comment makes zero sense in regards to my argument. I was talking about the recruits view of the school, not the coach. The reality is that CU is a beautiful campus with great academics, recruits care about those type of things, and coaches care about getting recruits. The mountains, the great weather, the 300+ days of sunshine all without humidity is what draws recruits from places like South Texas. They won a championship getting players like that in the 80's. Alfred Williams is now a local radio jock and talks about it all of the time. Denver has a major airport with direct flights to every area in the country (even South Bend, ironically). It's a great place for a young man to live and go to school. A hell of a lot better than Cincinnati, OH...

The reality is that you guys can try to marginalize a traditional program for having a rough patch, but your arguments sound like the same tunes that ND haters have been spewing the last 20 years. CU is no Notre Dame, but they are a much better program and opportunity than Cincinnati ever will be.
