And neither even made his top 5 so that should really tell us something. Doesn't seem like that "time" really mattered. In the end, I think as recruiting evolved for Lathan, so did his "wants" with his eventual destination. I highly doubt this is different if ND offered him 3 months earlier.

ND aside, his final five looked pretty Big Football Factory-ish, IIRC. I’d much rather be up against Stanford and Michigan than LSU and Ohio State. After that I was a little surprised to see us in his top two, TBH.

Typically I would agree with you, but somehow Hairbaugh has managed to still pull in some pretty good recruits. I bet it’s because he is pro-milk....CORRECTION...He is pro-whole milk.

Pro-whole Milk and anti-chicken, that is.

Decision is made and coaches know. ND did put up a hell of a battle here and if the city of South Bend was cool we might have pulled it off. Congrats to the staff on getting him to think more ND then LSU and Texas. Sucks finishing SECOND AGAIN on another elite DB to OSU. One of these days we will beat those cucks for a DB.

The first part was from EJ at rivals

I buy that when we lose a kid to LA or Miami, or even Austin. But not Columbus. Columbus sucks.
Someone persuaded him that the NFL, and perhaps life until then, would come easier if he went to Ohio State. We'll beat them for elite DBs when we start putting elite DBs into the league.

Reads to me that he is interested in more than FB. Columbus is a lot bigger than SB and OSU is a lot bigger than ND. It all equals to more girls and parties. Finishing second may not be so bad here.

Let's hope Love lights it up in the NFL.

Have you also been to South Bend, IN?

Agree that OSU is a lot bigger than ND, and there are probably more parties. But no one goes to Ohio State because of Columbus, just like no one goes to Notre Dame because of South Bend. I guess that's the point. But it sure looks like he chose what he perceived as the fastest/easiest route to the NFL, regardless of geography.
Whatever. To each his own.

I've always heard Columbus was a pretty cool place.

I've never been though.

I've heard the same thing.

Back when our boys were in MS and HS we would go there every year for a wrestling tournament held at the convention center. We hit downtown, Easton, Dublin and the Bexley areas. All seemed pretty decent. Rolled through the edge of the OSU campus at night and it was alive.

Cbus is a great town.a lot of stuff to do year round. Coupled with the fact Ohio State football runs that town

Is this really a reason why? If so, glad he picked OSU. Not sour grapes, just can't believe that would be a reason. Anyone that has been to Notre Dame, or went there, knows that Notre Dame is in a bubble compared to the rest of South Bend. Students really have no business going further off campus than Corby's or Finny's. The bubble that Notre Dame is in though is awesome.

Not sure how much significance this carried, in the end, but it did seem to be part of it. I've seen a couple different mentions of location being important.

My glass half full guess is that he's going to C Bus so he can be part of an annual curb stomping of Meatchicken. I'll forever be okay w him if that's the reason.

I have no clue but is there a reason this is posted in Ransom's thread?

I think Pete mentioned this being welcomed news to ND in that it means BC isn't targeting Lea.

but then who does OSU target for their DC?

Hafley was the CO-DC. So that still leaves Greg Mattison if they decide to keep him as sole DC. Lea wouldn't leave for a CO gig but my hunch is that he won't even leave ND for OSU just for a "lateral" DC job. I think Lea's next gig will be HC.

But here's hoping he has an Elston state-of-mind and is absolutely 100% happy and content where he is.

I read that to mean BC wouldn’t go after Lea.
As for Ohio State’s next DC: I’d be shocked/disappointed if Lea jumped over there. But why not Elko?

Loy has been saying that ND and Ransom have remained in contact. And that this news has caused him to question whether he’ll sign early or not. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Exactly. That was posted in this thread because it means the door opened up a little.

Geeez. I see the reasoning now.

This whole time I had in my head that Ransom was part of last year's class and that he is already a freshman. The whole Ransom recruitment seemed ages ago. Carry on.

It’s official Hafley to BC. Some concern on OSU’s side of things that Ransom won’t sign on Wednesday. Loy, of course, is stirring it up as well.
