I think the package deal talk is more in jest that anything else but ND is the only school in the top group for both.
Blair Angulo was doing a chat regarding his region's (247 west coast/southwest) top prospects and was asked about Lathan and his ND official. His words were much more optimistic than what I would've expected. He also stated that there are some in Lathan's camp that think his best fit is at ND. Also, him and Henning are sure having fun on twitter. However, I refuse to get my hopes up.
whats all that mean?

No one knows what it means, but its provocative. It gets the people going!
I think I would be able to follow it except that Houston Griffith involvement throws me.
HG was noting that since ND is the only school on Ransom and Henning's finalist, ND is the only choice that the package deal would work at. A refreshing change of pace from the standard, You know the move, response.
I see. I consider this a commitment.
We're probably not getting either of them.
Ransom is the real deal, no doubt about that. He just didn’t want what ND is. We went all out early and often for him and it just didn’t happen. That will happen, gotta deal with it. We sign up for being ND fans (in some ways different than others) we gotta understand this.
Also, it looks like we won’t be getting an “elite” S commit early but I have my doubts that coach Jospeh doesn’t end this cycle with something we’re happy with.
I think we have very good evaluators and coaches right now. Best we’ve had in a long time. Let’s give it time.
Not to mention the best S prospect in maybe the last two cycles. 6’4 with a 42’’ vert, really?
Per 247 he's down to a top 2 of ND and OSU. Brutal runner up finish here but not something that should surprise anyone.
This is really frustrating. He and Bijan Robinson are going to end up at Ohio St. ND got in too late here. They were in a good spot w/ Ransom early but had they been in with the first wave during spring eval, (or read our Master List where he was #1 in Oct '17) things may have been different. I mean, Stanford beat them by 3 months and they missed a Midwest swing where he visited Michigan.
Also, word is people at Salpointe Catholic really did their job for Our Lady.
That said, it's sad he couldn't put 2 & 2 together on his own. The chance to team with Kyle Hamilton and play in a system where the staff has a less physically talented tandem of Elliot and Gilman retuning as the best backend in the country should have been a deal maker.

He will get to pay with Cavazos, which si not that bad, but it ain't Hamilton. The depth chart looks packed for safeties as well for OSU but it looks like they are going to lose eligibility where he could start next year IMO.
I also heard OSU is taking a run a Elias Ricks . . . .
They are . . . AND Kelle Ringo who's Ransom and Robinson's 7v7 buddy.
I'm calling for a Kinesioloy Dept to be jointly run by ND and Holy Cross.
May be naive of me, but i guess i kind of assumed/hoped, pOSU would take a slight down tick in recruiting, with Urban leaving. I see they are sitting at 4th, just ahead of us now. Hopefully they put in a few lackluster seasons and some of their recruits start to head our way.
Jeff Hafley - Taver Johnson
Greg Mattison - Greg Schiano
Al Washington - Bill Davis
Mike Yurcich - Alex Grinch
These aren’t like for like switches but OSU improved their recruiting with their assistant coaches during the offseason. None of the guys that left were bad recruters but all 4 of the new assistants are very good recruiters. Yurcich might be the least heralded and he landed maybe the only 4 4*’s in Ok State’s history haha. Basically HC got worse at recruiting cause nobody is as good as Urban Meyer but all 4 assistant positions got better at recruiting which overall probably comes out to being the same or even a little better than the previous staffs at OSU.
For their class, they got the 4th best QB in the class. They will land the 4th best RB in the class (Bijan Robinson). They’ve got the best WR class in the country with 4 top 100 recruits! TE they landed their #2 or #3 target who’s still a top 12 TE in the country. OL is a spot where they’re recruiting below their nationally ranked average. They’ve got 6 recruits and a lot of good ones but 2 top 100 guys and 4 3*’s.
Defensive line is far from finished but I don’t think I’d take any other defensive line coach to finish out a class in the country other than maybe Larry Johnson at OSU, Mike Elston at ND and Rodney Gardner at Auburn. At LBer, OSU landed Cody Simon and will likely land Kourt Williams to give them 2 4*’s playing in All American games at the end of the year. Clark Phillips, Lathan Ransom, Lejond Cavazos, and Cameron Martinez. If you’d tell me ND would land those 4, I’d be jumping up and down in excitement.
Overall, OSU’s firmly in the mix to finish with a top 5 class in the country and while it won’t be the Urban Meyer run of #1 and #2 classes it will still be an awesome class with plenty of star power.

This is all assuming they don't go 8-4. Urban was a great recruiter because he was a great coach. If you don't back up all your talk, that spot shine wears off real quick.
