Everyone? We had weeks of people wildly speculating // impugning Hamilton's character various places on the internet because BK was implying he was healthy enough to play and taking it "day-to-day"... when in reality he suffered an injury that would keep him out for weeks everyone knew it. There is little-to-no tactical advantage to lying about injuries, and I don't know why some coaches are obsessed with it. BK generally hasn't been in the past, but it's a Harbaugh/Kiffin style move to lie about injuries for the sake of a pretend "edge" on the opponent.

I am really curious about how it came about that Pyne was starting the second half of the Cincinnati game after Kelly said it would be Coan.

Sampson reporting BK said KH is essentially done for the season. May have to consider playing if CFP is an option.

This is the way. Come back if we make the CFP otherwise groom the future safeties who we desperately need out of the gate next year. If we can't beat GT and Stanford without him we have no business playing in the CFP anyway.

Hamilton still has 2 years of eligibility.

TBH, the way the injury was announced and handled afterward doesn't bother me. Him being out the rest of the season was written in the tea leaves. Just needed to look a little closer.

Also, that's probably Kyle's information to share or not given that it may affect his draft status.

I would be really surprised if he played in our bowl game even if it's playoffs to be honest. That's roughly 9 weeks "off". I'd hate to see him have something in his head mentally about his knee adn not playing free and get hurt because of it (even if not a re-injure).

Just go get drafted young man.

BK has consistently said that when he's cleared he will play because he wants to. I would hope that BK and any other high level coach would spend exactly zero seconds worrying about what a bunch of internet donkeys speculate about, or whose character is impugned or whatever drummed up nonsense floats around. He wasn't obsessed with it, he was answering questions about it. If it offers any tactical advantage, even the slightest, why not? Does Bronco get cheap heat for not saying two weeks ago that his stud QB is out even though inside sources, eye test, and common sense indicate there is no reason for Armstrong to play? Nope, because it's part of the job.

Wouldnt he want to come back and play a game if he can just to assure the NFL teams that there are no injury clouds.
He is better off admitting he is sitting out to prep for the NFL rather than have the head coach admitting the injury is worse than we first thought. He is going to get asked about it every press conference.

He’ll have the combine, pro-day, and team physicals to prove he’s no longer injured. Any games left this season wouldn’t matter.

The silver lining to Hamilton's injury is that I think we may have something at safety with Watts. Hope he keeps it up, because him finishing the season well is going to make a concerning position for next year a lot less concerning.

And as much as I’d love to see him play in an ND uni again. Jaylon Smith fiesta bowl is all you need to look at for him to make a decision.

I hope Hamilton all the best and have no issues with him willingly sitting out of anything shy of a CFP game. That said, does anyone else think it sucks that we effectively not only got only 2 1/2 seasons out of Hamilton on the field, but also weren't able to parlay his success on the field into additional, future safety studs?

does anyone think that maybe MF can do the impossible and convince kyle hamilton to come back for his senior season? probably not but it's fun to think about.

I don't see any chance of this happening. As long as he's still projected to be a high 1st round pick, he has nothing to gain by coming back. I'm just hoping we get to see him for 1-2 more games before he rides off into the sunset!

Listening to Hamilton on the Mick Assaf Twitter chat he sounded like a guy who is getting ready to move on. He was a lot more interested in talking about the past with BK than a future without him.

Yeah, absolutely should not even remotely consider coming back. And let's be honest that decision was made months ago. Now just a matter of can we get him back one more game?

Yeah, they say Hamilton is a cool customer anyway, but it almost sounded like he's not even concerned about ND football now like he's moved on. Not in a bad way, mind you, just that he's focused on the future and rightfully so at this point. I'd be surprised if he suited up for a bowl game, and I wouldn't fault him one bit if he didn't.

Just spit balling here and could be nothing...but KH was pretty much BK's biggest supporter the night he left. I kinda wonder if a lot of that might do with the fact that KH decided to shut it down, and Kelly did a good job keeping that info in limbo the way he did.

If so, BK deserves major props for that.

I think Kelly has always had a good relationship with his superstars. It's the other 100 players on the team that had/have virtually no relationship with him.

I think Freeman would convince him to leave. That would be the right thing to do, especially if he has his degree.

Absolutely ridiculous that this has any bearing on weather or not we make the playoffs.

And yet here we are. Eye-ball tests and narratives over resumes. Fortunately for ND, that usually benefits us at the expense of others.

Just gotta hope Georgia takes care of business (Or by some magical scenario they get beat and no SEC team is in...which is like a 0% chance) and one of Cinci/OK State/Michigan trips. I like our chances against any of those later 3, and anything could happen against Georgia.
