VT and NC St until now. He's a stretch DT/SDE, not the dynamic speed rushers like the TX guys. Took a long time to get this offer out. I'd imagine if you get an offer now, it means you are agreeing to visit.

Here's a freebie from an NC State rag:

https://packinsider.com/2017/12/23/2018-de-derrick-eason-sign-nc-state-february/

2018 DE Derrick Eason to Sign With NC State in February

Wednesday was the early national signing day, and NC State signed twenty-one of their twenty-two 2018 football commitments.

They came into the day expecting to sign all 22 of their commitments, but defensive end Derrick Eason (6’4”/240) decided that he wanted to wait until February to sign with the rest of his Norview (Norfolk, VA) teammates.

All signs are that Eason is still committed to NC State, but here are a couple of thoughts.

He took his official to NC State this past weekend, and the coaches thought he was going to sign.
Since he didn’t sign, NC State could wonder if he will flake on his commitment, and go searching for another defensive end to sign in February. Eason does hold an offer from Virginia Tech.
Since he didn’t sign, you better believe that other schools are going to start flocking to Eason like vultures. Other schools experienced players flip on them on Wednesday, and they are looking for people to fill those holes.

Eason might still be a solid Wolfpack Commit, but these are scenarios worth considering.

Would be a solid addition: Any guy with his very own turnover chain's got a spot on my roster.

Interested to hear what you guys think of his film. Definitely a SDE, not a lot of athleticism/speed IMO.

Almost looks like a developmental 3T to me.

I like that he plays both ways. I think he has decent athleticism, but his technique (particularly on offense) is rough. His biggest plus is that he's big and strong. He has the physical traits to play big boy ball...even if he does half to slide inside to 3T like you suggest and it might be were he's better suited.

They've got enough DT's in the pipeline. They need SDE's who think they're WDE's and WDE's that think they are Justin Tuck.

I hope they find another DE late. I watched again, and it just feels like the Brandon Tiassium of DE. IDK What they see unless they're trying to play him inside.

To be honest why not use the extra spot and pursue a grad transfer at DE, I'd rather do that or safe the scholarship for next years class then waste it on someone who is a reach and may never play a down and end up transfering

Sigh of relief IMO. This is Brandon Tiassium, the DE version, IMO.

I wouldn't go quite that far. I think he'll ultimately be a lot of Jay Hayes. I think you could line him up at SDE on early downs and he'd be an effective run defender and slide him inside on passing downs. However, I would agree that he's not going to significantly improve our pass rush. And I don't think he's an every down DE.

dude looks a little bit more built than Brandon Burger Club Tiassium

He does look good in pictures. I just am fine passing on this one. His play at DE, even if SDE, is too slow IMO. If he plays inside, I can see him playing at this level, but then again, we're recruiting interior DL so well right now, I'd rather have other guys (including an extra DT spot for 2019).

With as many big name guys that are high on us in 2019 I'd rather pass on him and take an extra in 2019

Why pass? It's not like we're ever going to get to the max

We're coming in below 85 again and now everybody is going to act like we're too good to take this kid?
