If a kid wants to flip, fine, whatever, but don't be a little whiny bitch like this. It makes your current choice look like they were just a backup option and makes the previous one look bad, and also makes you look like a tantrum throwing, whiny little shit.

I broke my rule of not tweeting at recruits. Fuck this kid. He got played by the reporter into giving quotes to fit a headline, but then doubles down on being "lied" to about running track which is just obviously absurd given the number of guys that have done both for ND and the fact that TROY PRIDE CURRENTLY RUNS TRACK FOR ND.

Holy shit Braden...

I wonder if this is a case of “buyer’s remorse?” The team he was once committed to is now in the National Title picture and the team he swapped them for is in rebuilding mode. Who knows though? Either way it seems a little silly to bring it up now. Move on buddy, Goerdon Porter took your spot, and we are just fine with it.

I think you nailed it. He probably had someone say something to him or needle him about how ND is in the national spotlight and Oregon is returning to their norm after their fifteen minutes of fame with CK.

Haha. Good. I️ also get annoyed with the 2 overweight south bend tribune reporters trying to enhance the story with their own commentary on the situation. Such a non-story they they felt compelled to re-tweet and comment on.

This is a classic triggered episode. Somebody said something... a general ribbing from a buddy, and he felt he need to justify his decision. Unfortunately for him, we all know better as Golden Tate played baseball, Torii Hunter did as well, Troy Pride and Bennett Jackson ran track, and if I’m not mistaken, Tony Jones may double dip as well with baseball. Somebody above added that Kmet will swing away in the Spring too. I wish the kid all the best, but I truly find it hard to believe that Kelly did anything more than say, football first. If you can handle that then we will give track a try too. Remember, we were willing to let Arik Armstead EE so he could jump straight to the basketball team several years back if he wanted in. Unfortunately for us, he picked the same school as Lenny, but it wasn’t because we were shooting down a kid’s dream of being a multi-sport athlete.

Those comments are a far cry from the well-reasoned and pretty-good explanation that his own father put out on one of the message boards for everyone to read after his decommitment.

The original story is that he wanted equal commitments for track and football, and ND couldn't promise that it would be equal commitments... Braden and his father both understood that, and he made the decision to switch to Oregon, where track will be just as important as football, and one commitment doesn't loom over the other.

Now all of a sudden the story is "honorable men lied to me and deceived me"?

Exactly.

Accurate and logical version of the story, probably -- they talk to ND coaches about running track, they say he can absolutely do it and multiple guys do it but they expect him to be committed to the football team. He then decommits.

Ridiculous version six months later -- Braden was deceived and lied to by a bunch of dishonest con-artists into committing to Notre Dame and then saw the light and committed to honest, honorable, and "real" Coach T.

What a clown. And why is it that Oregon 247 writers are always cunts towards ND?

The topper to all this is, he belongs at ND for track, not Oregon. He'll never be a factor at a program like Oregon. There were 360 HS guys who ran faster 200m times in 2017 than his recognized best time. His personal best was kicked out over a challenge and it was hand timed, that outlier would have moved him up to 115.

Minnesota CB commit Terrell Smith (who the Irish are talking to) ran a 20.85. Lenzy's best was a 21.35 (not recognized) and his other times start in the 21.6's.

This guy isn't good enough to be at Oregon, it's a sham that he is and it most certainly has to do with his Dad being a Nike Global Brand MGR. Troy Pride consistently ran much better times that him and he's not at an ACC or SEC power concentrating on track.

This.

I didn't want to say this and get accused of hating on a kid or sour grapes but he's not near the track star that he thinks he is.

Nothing good will come of this thread remaining open. Mods should shut it down. My $.02.

According to loy sounds like Notre Dame is making another run at him. Interesting

Probably going to counter-attack the "honorable men" thing and blast Oregon for Taggart leaving/flirting with FSU, and will also assure him that he can be as full a participant in track as he wants.

If Tagart is truly gone, Oregon's class will probably fall a part. I would guess Chip Kelly is all over those Cali boys that were in Oregon's class.

Just waiting for Lax's post

I was literally about to type a post about how I hope we get him to flip back and sign on the dotted line just so we can kick him out of school the day after he attends his first class and be all like "...didn't want to make you a 'liar' about us being 'dishonrable' lol #rekt"

But maybe that's a little dark. Anyways, unless he apologizes and owns up to being manipulated by an Oregon reporter like a little bitch to trash ND for a headline then my feelings stand... fuck Braden Lenzy, I hope he goes somewhere else.

Sounds like we are going in for an in-home visit to gauge interest. I'd imagine that at that point, they'll have to hash some of this out.

Wow lax I have never seen you so irritated with a recruit before.

I saw on twitter today though that he was mislead with other track stars success. Is this true?

I'm inclined to post a Hard Pass gif right now, I don't know how you right the "dishonorable men" statement personally. But if the staff can get live with it, who'm I to argue as long as he explains/apologizes? He may be more valuable at DB than WR though. Go to 1:53 and watch the play he makes. He may not be Oregon track worthy but I don't know if any of ND's DB's minus Crawford make that play in HS.

Not that it's up to me, but I wouldn't even waste a phone call on this kid.

If only Lenzy was from Cali so Lax could go full snap.

If he lets us do an in-home visit, maybe he recognizes that he overstated things previously. Even if it doesn't work out with Braden, it could open a door for his younger brother in a couple of years.

Seems pretty committed to the Ducks. Doesn’t help matters that an ND fan (alleged adult) was trolling him to the point that Lenzy looked like the adult in the conversation. ND should just move on from this cat.

Yes. But if Taggart leaves, maybe not

My 2 cents:
1. He's a dynamic athlete we could really use on either side of the ball.
2. If the men he referenced in that ill advised interview are willing to move on and rebuild those bridges, I'm not going to hold the grudge for them.

I kind of doubt he ends up at ND, but if he does, I'm not going to hold that against him. Especially after his first TD.
