Notre Dame picked up a major piece for it's 2018 recruiting class on Monday night when Rivals100 Marietta (Ga.) Lassiter defensive back Derrik Allen made his commitment to the Irish official. The nation's No. 36 player told Rivals.com that it was a tough decision but one that had been coming for a while.

"This happened a few months ago, when I was up there for a visit," Allen said of when he knew he wanted to commit to the Irish. "We haven't said much about it to everyone but it just clicked in my head least visit I had. I loved it. Between the family environment, the academics and on the field, it's an all-around great program."

I think Loy does a pretty great job but I don't think he "knew" 3 months ago. More likely, he "thought" ND had a great chance. Then something went south with the main competition Clemson and ND got the commitment.

Preparing articles in advance would just seem like good workcraft regardless of outcome. Just my opinion.
