IMO, it bodes very well for ND that the kid doesn't like hype. There is nothing about him that suggests this is a typical Florida-Alabama "look at me everyone" battle.
ND typically does very well with the quiet, analytical types, because the numbers don't lie:
- Notre Dame is a very exclusive $240,000 education; Florida and Alabama are just fine state schools (nothing wrong with a Toyota, but its not a Mercedes);
- Notre Dame opens doors nationwide, including in his home state of Florida;
- Notre Dame has absolutely no issues getting offensive linemen to the NFL--they seem to be trained for the fundamentals of the NFL game, and HH gets as much respect as anyone on draft night;
- Notre Dame is a quieter, 8,000 student experience, which is not as fun if you are looking for trouble, but more fun if you aren't
Most importantly:
- Notre Dame is cold from December through March. You will weigh 310 pounds. You will sweat all day every day in Alabama or Florida.
