I'm good with this as long as they grab 2 this cycle. Davis is going to make a great receiver.

I don't think Davis would've been the second QB with an offer if they had the idea of moving him to a different position. If so, they would be pursuing a few more QBs.

I think he's definitely got the arm and escapability to play QB - I'm not really sure who you take over him at this point - McCaffrey isn't that high on the Irish and he might be the only one that's a better fit. Davis isn't very tall, but neither was Golson. Golson wasn't a homerun threat running the football - so I think that could be an added dimension with Davis. Hooker is ok but he doesn't have much arm strength and isn't as dynamic on the ground as Davis - he's basically taller and that's it.

Obviously, I'm sure they aren't recruiting him with that intention. I just couldn't pull the trigger on a sub 6-1 QB ever again.

The offensive line has a size profile to recruit to, I'd have the same type of profile for QB's.

Not saying it's the Irish's choice or a realistic possibility for that matter, just answering the question as if it's asked to me. No order.

Shawn Robinson
Lowell Narcisse
Kellen Mond
Dylan McCaffrey
Hendon Hooker
Jack Sears
Tua Tagovailoa - if he's 6-1+

Maybe with more film inspection

Jack Coan
N'Kosi Perry

Davis is the type of athlete that brings flexibility. My guess is Davis gets on the field no matter who's above him on the depth chart at QB, like a college version of Randall Cobb.

There's been more than one Irish QB who played WR, even at the NFL level.

I don't get the hype of Hooker or Sears. Aside from those two and Coan, I haven't watched film on any of the others because I'm not aware of any connection the Irish staff may have with them. I think it's pretty easy to see from the highlights provided that Davis has a stronger arm and is a bigger breakaway threat running the football. Obviously there are reservations about his height but are those other QB's better prospects for the college game/Brian Kelly's offense?

I don't dislike Davis' game other than him being under 6-0 and his delivery when rushed. I thinks he's a can't miss football player but I don't want him after Book if he's the only QB take in this class.

We'll have to disagree if you think Davis is a better QB for ND's system over Sears based on film, measurements, stats & testing. If Sears was your average 6-3+ dual threat QB then I wouldn't be that high on him but he ran a mid 4.6 at the Opening Regional and someone said the last QB with a better Sparq score than his was Wimbush in '15 IIRC. The local recruitniks think he's gonna be Barnett 2.0

We'll see how it all unfolds.

Well then why would we want him?

I definitely don't understand this at all. He doesn't seem to have any accuracy. 90% of his snaps in his highlights are runs.

I wasn't high on Davis at first, but he does some really good things with the football. I think he just has an unconventional throwing motion and it makes some throws look off, but he throws a good ball.

The thing with Davis I am most concerned about is his size. He doesnt have a great build and his durability running read option would worry me, but at the same time, Kelly has done a good job of protecting his QB's.

The next offer for me would be Hendon Hooker. Kid has a cannon, but drops straight dimes. He is a bigger QB much like Kizer, but is more explosive in the run game than Kizer. I think Hooker would thrive in a system like Notre Dame's. I don't think he fits a OSU/Auburn type of system, as he isn't an elite running QB, but he would have a chance to make more plays in BK's offense vs a pro-style.

I thought Hooker received an offer this week.

Go check out Hooker's basketball clips and you'll see what kind of athlete he is.

Cedar Hill HS is a powerhouse Dallas suburban school that sends tons of kids on to D1 programs. Would be nice to get a foot in the door there.

5'11".......Hard to get excited about a short QB, but I still trust the staff.

The Randall Cobb of South Bend. 3 years of holding a clipboard and he'll be begging for a shot at the slot.

I'd prefer to lock up a QB soon for a few reasons, one being I don't think Sanford stays through this recruiting cycle and I'd rather have a QB locked in that's been 'part of the class' for ~6 months rather than scramble at the end. I feel like it makes it more likely they stick.

If we land a kid who is enamored by Stanford then he leaves, doubt the kid would stay committed.
