Path To Playing Time In ‘18
Lugg may have carved a path to sharing a spot along the offensive line with his impressive emergence as a true freshman last fall and his work in the spring. Offensive coordinator Chip Long says Lugg’s name every time he discusses an offensive line rotation. He entered the summer considered the first offensive lineman off the bench.
Long-Term Projection
Some believed that Lugg would hold off the charge of Liam Eichenberg at left tackle this spring, although it now appears the coaching staff prefers to utilize his skills at guard. Still, it would not be a surprise if Lugg took snaps at left tackle with Eichenberg, who has yet to play a meaningful snap for the Irish. Eichenberg’s future looks bright after a strong spring, but Lugg has skills that the coaching staff – Long and offensive line coach Jeff Quinn in particular – wants to put into play as early as this year. Lugg has three-year starter potential.
It's gonna be surreal to see 6-7 Lugg lined up at RG next to 6-4 Hainsey at RT if that's how 2019 plays out. Hopefully Lugg's length gives him a ceiling that finally eclipses Hainsey's skill set and HS/college experience.

Next year he starts at RT you would think. Hainsey then moves to LG or RG depending on Kraemer and Center is whoever wins that battle. I feel bad for Banks though. You would think next year he may transfer if something doesn't open up.
I've always thought the best scenario in 2019 would be:
LT = Eichenberg
LG = Kraemer
OC = Hainsey
RG = Banks
RT = Lugg
But to be honest, I don't care anymore. ND's so stocked right now that Quinn/Long/BK can't mess it up. There are a number of line ups ND can throw out there this year and next that will result in a Top 10 college unit. ND's probably gonna be that way until at least 2023.

You or I couldn't mess it up... nor will the staff of BK's replacement.
Looks like Quinn has moved Luggg back to OT only. He's listed as Eich's back up on the depth chart while Kristofic is listed as Hainsey's. Lugg would be the first OT off the bench if either starter went down with Kristofic only at 280lb.
This is good news. There's a chance ND will need a replacement at OT next year as either starting OT could move on. With Carroll losing the '19 season's development time to injury, Lugg's the only one who'd be ready unless Mabry comes out of no where. Kristofic wouldn't be ready until '21 most likely the same time RS/FR Tosh Baker is ready and maybe RS/Fr Carmody
They've always got the option of moving Banks over, too.
I also wonder if they still view Patterson as a future tackle potentially... Correll would need to put on weight, and they'd really need to feel okay about significant shuffling, though.
The prospect of a 3 or 4 year starter in the middle of the line is probably enticing, but then you've got a guy like Correll trying to pack on enough mass to play guard.
with tommy krammer out does jashua lug get the start, man I hope so im ready to see what he can do.

Yeah is this another phenom thats “just not ready” yet?
Won't be available this week due to an ankle injury. Disappointing, but hopefully they won't need him.
I think Prister said he’s been dealing with it for a few weeks now.
Yeah he mentioned it in the post-FSU podcast because it was initially assumed that Lugg would've come in for LT.
Lugg at LT? Or Banks move to LT and Lugg comes in at RG instead of Gibbins? Or would have thought the latter.

So it sounds like Lugg will be the starting Center in the ACC Championship Game

Criterion number one equals Health. Healthiest should play.
If that's equal, then you choose what you want on Power vs Quickness. Maybe with that DT returning, Quinn wants power.
I'm a big fan of Correll, but I think this is the right move. WIth Skalski and Davis back in the middle of that defense, need to go with the more experienced player, IMO.
There's no guarantee that Skalski will be able to play against us. He came out against VT in the first quarter because his groin injury was still bothering him. He's practicing, and Venables is hopeful he'll be ready to start, but even if he does, I doubt he'll be at 100%.
And isn't the younger Venables, Skalski's backup, definitely out?
Yes. Broke his arm during the VT game. If Skalski can't go, Clemson will have to play a sophomore (Kane Patterson) with very little experience.
