Man I seem to recall at the beginning of his recruitment, that Hinish was regarded as the lesser of the Central Catholic duo. David Adams unfortunately was never able to play, but Hinish has been a contributor since day 1. Do we think he takes the free 5th year?

Given he doesn't have quite the size or athleticism of a lot of D linemen, strength is his key. I think he might come back to get a little better prepared.

I don’t know if Kurt would get drafted. But if I was a scout and/or a GM I would be banging on the table to draft him somewhere in the 5th to 7th round. But, I am biased lol.

I made a comment back when he was getting recruited that he reminded me of Zorich with his play. His overall career may not be on quite the same level, but I don't think Zorich could have done any better Saturday night.

Most underrated player on the roster. What an absolute warrior!!!

Love him because he knows his role. He beats OL to the point, and refuses to move off it. He's responsible for way more tackles than he gets.

This. It’s very easy for a DL to end up overrunning the play when they beat a block. He stays assignment sound.

I’ve been thinking about this the past few days...And I have come to the conclusion that Hinish is one of my favorite ND players of all time. I started following Notre Dame football back in 1993.

I just love everything about him. His blue collar mentally, physicality, toughness, does more with less physical ability and absolutely love the war paint. If there ever was a Notre Dame man it Hinish.

If I’m an nfl scout, come draft I’m banging on the table to draft Hinish on day 3.

Yeah, if you're the Steelers and Hinish is still sitting there in Round 6, you pick him up right? Hometown kid that will play his absolute ass off and is tough as nails

thought he played well again saturday. Tough ass dude.

Sh!t talked the hell out of Phil too. Was there bad Pennsylvania blood there? When Phil didnt catch the snap and we recovered the fumble. KH went right up to him and said something. Phil didnt take kindly to it.

I hope he and MTA stick around for 2021. Would be wild to have the same two deep at DT for three years.

They played at rival high schools in Pittsburgh so I suspect that carried over to Saturday.

According to Pete Sampson's article about the game, Hinish was one of the guys who posed with Phil for pics afterwards.

Hinish told Phil his Pittsburgh privileges have been revoked.

Final score should've been 34-10. Refs decided to swallow their whistles when Kurt was assaulted before he could sack the QB. Kurt had a great game last night.

They were holding us all night. We should have had double digit sacks.

It did seem like lots of holding by UNC, sometimes literally tackling our linemen. Glad it didn't matter.

Clearly there has been a systematic shift with officiating so far as holding is concerned. It's too egregious and widespread for it not to be. Probably part of the movement to protect players, specifically the QB. Dumb.

Holding calls across the NFL are at a 20-season low, according to research by ESPN Stats & Information. There have been 357 offensive holding penalties through 11 weeks, down from the 660 offensive holding penalties at the same point last season.

Protecting the QBs, holding the DL, DBs not touching WRs, and flags for low hits, high hits....its changing.

Sad part is that about half of those calls were made in the last Colts drive of regulation against the Packers.

This is great news. A great play but very good solid player. Bust his ass and never gives up.

I know we’ve been talking about a rebuild in other threads. But, if enough guys decide to come back it might make it more intriguing for BK to go get Coan and make another run at it.

I think we should take Coan regardless of how many guys come back. I believe Coan has 2 years left and he is a potential draft pick if he puts together another solid season. He’d also be a significant upgrade over Clark/Pyne, and it would allow Buchner to not be thrown to the wolves.
