Pitt forums are A+ right now. I'm a spiteful asshole, so I really cannot wait to troll my Pitt roommate tonight. Will really brighten up my day after an overall shitty football Saturday.

As a side note, let's hope young Jeter is committed to "the school" and not "the coaches".

Does this finish DL recruiting for us? I would still like to get a nasty edge rusher?

I think this ends the chances for guys like Jerron Cage. ND would still take a true edge rush DE.

Jeter is much more comparable to J Hayes rather than I Rochelle, IMO.

"I can fix this."

- any recruit that commits to this defense

"I can fix this and I can fix this early. They need me."

You guys get it.

I see it more as a Big Lou type commitment. Committing to the school itself and the entire ND experience rather than being sold on the on field product.

Make no mistake, Mr. Jeter is at ND to play football first and foremost. It is evident from his interviews. I find nothing wrong if the plan is to have an All-Pro NFL career with an ND degree as insurance. Not many people accidentally have great NFL careers, it takes laser focus but a lot of guys with laser focus made the mistake of not having that additional point of focus in the classroom when the other didn't work out.

Welcome! Is he good in pass protection?

Interesting you bring this up...

His brother Sheldon was 6-5 and change his senior year in high school. He is now 6-8, 230. I'd say Donovan was on the short side of 6-4 in the picture I posted above. He could hit a spurt like his brother and end up 6-6+. With his basketball footwork, he might be a candidate to move to the otherside. Same thing with Darnell Ewell. ND recruited him at DT obviously but he made the Opening Regional Top 5 for his play at OG. Kelly's known for moving guys, Joe Staley might be in Canton someday because Kelly doesn't use the TE in his offense...

I think he committed to the situation. Need and the WPa movement.

Thats my sales pitch if I am anyone on the staff.. "See that dumpster fire of a defense? You can come in and play Day 1 and right the ship." Sales Gold

Guys who play early on Saturday, play yearly on Sunday. That's how I end every note to the guys I'm recruiting. Seriously, this is like selling Camry's for $99/mo with $0 down.

Am I the only one who's like meh on this? Nothing against the prospect, but until the staff shows it can develop and let kids play fast, I just don't care. I think with good coaching our talent has been good enough to win a title, spare a few positions like DE and safety. We need to bring in a really good DC at the very least. This is the first time I've not been excited about getting a player I wanted, because I'm like what difference does it make. I have a very gloomy outlook on the program right now. Jesus take the wheel.

I'm being a pessimistic a hole from a whole other angle... I'm thinking, "This kid is going to ball out and win big games,... for whoever it is he ultimately flips to..."

I can't disagree. Once this dumpster fire is fully exposed in the coming months this class may have more flips than a Simone Biles floor routine

Nice pick up for the Irish! Welcome to ND Mr. Jeter.

I still think Jerron Jones is still a take and if you ask why did you see how our d-line played on Saturday?

Understand the feeling. However, we want to have as much talent available for that next DC, so that the turnaround is made quicker. There is talent for the foreseeable future on this team and coming in this class. It just needs to be coached better. Get a good DC in here and we could see results fairly quickly, IMO.

To me this is a huge commitment because it occurred after what was a terrible performance. So the staff is at least selling the school well. Plus, he's a heck of a talent.

Would you order a drink that was half Rochell, half Tuitt, shaken with a splash of Tabasco?

If yes, then you ain't meh on this one.

basically 247 said he wasn't promised playing time immediately but was told he could come in compete immediately for playing time which was huge to him, of course the pitt area commits have been on him hard as well--i know u have 247 lucci was just pointing this out for others

I think what really sold Donovan was seeing Daelin Hayes and Trumbetti down field in pass coverage. Rushing the QB gets old, man. Having the ability to go down field and cover like a Richard Sherman is something you don't see many places. IMO, this is why he's Irish!!!!

This guy had offers from Alabama and Ohio State. He'll make a difference.
