Disagree with this.

You can get hurt if you stay and so on and so on...got that.

But you also leave a lot of money on the table if you leave and skip a year that you can get better with. Wasn't Q a late 1st rounder and McG a 2nd rounder in the 2017 draft grade? If that was the case, Q made out.

Also, this year's draft:

Denzel Ward - CB 4th overall pick. Contract was $29M.
Jaire Alexander - CB 18th overall pick. Contract was $12M.

If it's believed Love can be a top 10+ pick in the following draft, then it's absolutely worth it to stay.

Prepare to be disappointed. Returning wouldn’t really allow Love to raise his stock. What separates him from being an early first to a mid-late first is measurables. He isn’t going to get faster or taller by returning for a year.

That would be pretty nice if ND can add another defender to all-american status by season end.

Tillery-Coney: Best shots
Kareem-Okwara-Tranquill: Long shots

Healthy, 2 years of starting film, playing elite, getting all the recognition... I love love and hope he's back in 2019, but I dont expect him to stay and I dont blame him. Here's to hoping he goes out with a bang.

I think he's the best. Lyght had more Int's (I know he had 8 one season) but I can't say I've ever seen anyone make as many plays on the ball (actually batting them away) than Love.

Regardless of where you have him he's at the table with Bradley, Lyght, Burris, Taylor & Walton

Burris played safety, cornerback, running back and sold popcorn at halftime

Only reason he might come back would be him wanting to be a captain and play his senior season here. Which is very possible and plausible, many ND guys have done just that. He's probably a Day 2 pick right now, and because of measurables I think he'll find it hard to work his way into being a Day 1 pick no matter how much he dominates.

Julian Love:

1 Int, 14 PBUs, 15 passes defended, 3 TFLs, 49 tackles

DeAndre Baker:

2 Ints, 9 PBUs, 11 passes defended, 1 TFL, 36 tackles

Greedy Williams:

2 ints, 8 PBUs, 10 passes defended, 0 TFLs, 31 tackles

You tell me who should win that award. Love has significantly better numbers in all things except INTs.

But but Baker and Williams play in the best conference...

And think of the other +'s. Fumble recoveries (3), TDs (1), extra point defensive conversion (1). Kid does it all.

Exactly my thoughts. I liken him to the Iowa corner back from a couple years ago. Great film and character, mediocre measurements so he fell out of the first when many thought he was a lock.

What really stands out to me even beyond his coverage abilities is how physical he is at the point of attack. Not only does he almost never allow YAC, but the dude is about as sure of a tackler as they come when supporting the run.

He's a flat out baller. I hope he comes back but I'm not holding my breath.

Along these lines:

Even if he doesn't turn out to be an everyday starter at CB because of speed, he just reeks of the nickel / dime specialist (who are on the field all the time now days) I could even see him beefed up and playing a hybrid safety becuz as you said, when he doesn't break up the pass, he goes directly into mini Ray Lewis and man handles people... and don't even let him sniff out a screen.

There is zero doubt in my mind that he will be a day 1 starter in the NFL. Even if that means an immediate move to safety or down the road a move to safety he will have a 10+ as a starter in the league.

The should have had Troy Pride as a finalist instead of DeAndre Baker whose name is really letting the theme down.

I can already bet they're going to rob Julian and give it to Greedy Williams. Bigger name pro prospects always get awards like this for whatever reason. Hard to take these awards seriously when Q didn't get the outland last year.

Look at the numbers and tell me who wins? It's really not close.
