He was awarded the Sporting News 1st Team All American too. One more and he's unanimous

Most people if they had to choose would say he goes, but he's not your typical kid. He loves ND and wants a degree and would be a captain next year.

I think he will reluctantly go. He does seem to love ND and his teammates, but how do you improve on your draft status after the season he has had?

This is basically my gut feeling. It also doesn't help that as recently as 2015, ND's own Jaylon Smith played in a bowl game that knocked him out of not only the first round, but likely the top 5.

I really hope he comes back, but I'm just not holding my breath. 60/40 (in favor of him leaving) IMO, based on absolutely nothing but speculation.

I'll bet you all the VBucks he's gone, deal? He's put two great seasons together and the NFL will be knocking. He's, at worst, a 2nd rounder and if theres an early run on secondary players, he could hear his name in the first.

If he tests better than we expect, he could further his cause even more. I just don't know what else he can do in college. He's shown a sustained level of output for two years.

Why would I do that? I literally said in my post that if people had to choose they’d choose him to leave. As of now I believe he’ll be gone but like I said he’s a special kid. There is one thing he hasn’t accomplished in college and that’s his degree. That could be something he thinks is worth staying for.

He’ll get his degree no matter what. There’s nothing that says it has to be done now. The NFL situation could really only change for the negative if he comes back to school. His only real knock is his measurables, those don’t improve by coming back to school.

Yep, he needs to jump. I want him back but he's done everything he needed to do and he'll be graded high enough.

I agree he’ll get it later in time, like most others do.

I wonder how much he will actually do at the combine. If he thinks there is a chance he runs slower than low 4.5s then he should probably hold off running until ND's pro day. It always seems guys run faster at the pro days.

Speaking of that, didn't a bunch of ND guys decide not run at the combine last year?

I know that EQ and Smythe ran it. What other big skill position prospects did we have that went to the combine? IIRC Adams didn't go

Named 2nd Team All-American by the AFCA today. Missed unanimous 1st team All-American status by just this one poll.

Congratulations to Julian for this terrific achievement!

(...maybe he'll come back for one more year to get unanimous first team...)

AFCA first team DBs are all from the SEC and 10 of 11 defenders play in the Southeast US. What a joke.

Per Sampson, Julian received a 2nd Round grade with the possibility of going even “lower.” Frustrating to hear for him, but creates a slim chance that he might return next year.

That's exactly what I see. He's a great technician with amazing football character. But the corners who go in the first (and especially high) are big athletic freaks, and those that don't have the elite size are the best athletes (see Denzel Ward). Love just doesn't have those kind of measurables, but he's a great corner nonetheless.

If Love decides to stay, that gives us 15 returning starters next season. Would be interested to see how that compares to years past.

I hope he comes back but he's not gonna get any longer or faster and technically he's the best CB right now so why come back? His stock most likely won't go up. He'll just cost himself a year off his second or third contract... which at minimum will be over a million dollars (vet minimum) 6-7 years down the road.

And how the roster will be managed. more than 85? CBK had to anticipate he'd go pro, no?
