Coach simply gave Julian a tape of his ND career during the glory years when ND use to play Lyght's Out Defense!

May we smother more offenses with Love next year.

Sign a 5* DE named K'Vaughn Kindness while you're at it please.

I don't think the corners are the problem. Nick Watkins was kind of lazy at times, and Crawford started hot and faded, but they weren't the problem IMO.

It's the safeties that completely underwhelmed me all year. Like, when did you see Studstill/Elliot make a play?

Never. Especially Elliott, holy moly

Makes me wonder if ND would be better off with Love at Safety just to plug that hole

Better than having Elliott back there

Shame don’t have the CB depth to move him to safety. Because he will play in the league as a safety.

If he continues on his upward trajectory he will end up being the best db from Notre Dame since the Holtz era.

Don't forget Tranquil. Those three were all over the field tonight. It was awesome to see Tranquil put Guice to the ground multiple times.

Definitely. Tranquil brought it all season. Much respect to him. Glad he is coming back next season.

I didn’t forget about either of them.
Imo, if Love continues his current upward trajectory, he’ll be better than both.

Lol. Yes, if he continues to ascend and doesn't stop, he may also reach pro bowl caliber play.

And if Book continues his upward Trajectory he'll be better than Drew Brees.

He's twice the player Smith was as a sophomore.
In fact, Smith didn’t break out until his fourth and fifth seasons if I remember correctly.

He’s a great example of a player that continued to develop!

Love Julian Love.

But better than Harrison Smith? Zbikowski? Walton? Why does anyone NEED to say "better than" truly great ND players? Just say "one of the best we've seen alongside ... etc." Just to be mentioned with those guys is an honor. Or, just shut up --- the more an extreme comment is defended the more the commentary trends towards dissing our former greats. Positives can be stated without "better than" comparisons.

And, btw, Julian Love is REALLY good. "One of the best we've had at this young stage."

Hayseed could have developed quicker if CW hadn't of fucked him up by playing him at LB

Wrong. Tanuta and Weis moved him to LB which was a huge mistake. He flourished as a safety when moved.

You’re right. I got a bit over excited with Love’s level of play. His potential feels limitless.

Never meant to disrespect or diminish Smith’s great accomplishments.

I wouldn't go to the level OMM did, but I also don't like comparing players because someone always loses when that happens.

Love is awesome and the one true DB I trust. If he had 4.4 speed, he's as good of a prospect as Minkah Fitzpatrick IMO. Obviously that's a big IF and he's probably more of a 4.55 player at the combine, but he's awesome and we're lucky to have him for 2 more years.

I wasn’t holding that against him, if anything it was a testament to his amazing athletic ability.
He wasn’t ready to start at SS, but they had to get him on the field somewhere!

Some good quotes from Love and nice insight on how Lea's style has been embraced by the team post-Elko.
