Per TV, Callaway is telling people that Notre Dame is his leader.

If this is true and he ends up being a part of this class, this class could be potentially have McKinley, Claypool, Callaway, and Stepherson. Oh my.

We also lead for Alloway too. I thought we were only taking two WR's in this class? Where does the staff see Callaway playing? We could take Claypool and turn him into a LB or DE, Callaway can play DB safety or Corner, Stepherson is set at WR, Mckinley can play WR and Alloway Slot/RB? (Carile Replacement)

Just like Claypool, just get Callaway on the roster and worry about his position later. But yes, he would play receiver or in the secondary

Yeah that was really a surprise to see this morning! Would be a great get, and I'm with you on this one and Claypool. Just get me here, let their positions sort themselves out. Too good of a group of athletes to worry about that kind of stuff right now. They would be great additions no matter where they play!

Most of these guys can play multiple positions. Claypool at TE/DE/OLB. Alloway and Calloway can play in the secondary and Perry might outgrow the secondary and end up a LB. Lots of flexibility with guys like these. An embarrassment of riches, if you will.

If the staff takes any California player over Callaway that's a colossal error.

Riches in depth is what has hurt this team so bad. Coaches doing a great job in that department now.

ISD had an article not long ago saying that the staff wasn't impressed with Calloway. That he was a pass at this point so I'm a little confused.

What's so strange is that everyone at II seemed to rave about him. Don't get it.

What's the number of Scholarships we are looking at for next year? Does anyone think Smith may come back? Does Fuller or Robinson leave early? Redfield?

If we take Claypool, Alloway and Jax guy but not Calloway I will most likely loose my mind. II raved abou him, him and McKinley would be saucy.

I am confused with your post.

Does it say : "ISD had an article not long ago saying that the staff wasn't impressed with Calloway, and that he was a pass at this point. So I'm a little confused."

Or were you saying : "ISD had an article not long ago saying that the staff was impressed with Calloway; but that he was a pass at this point. So I'm a little confused."

Damn autocorrect. They were not impressed with Calloway.

I thought the article implied that while he looked good, they were uncertain of how he would translate to the field.

First, thanks for the clarification Irish Man!

Beau, you quoted probably closer to what was said.

For example, someone could watch Chase Claypool and say I don't know how that would translate on the field, but of course it would only mean they don't like him if they were fvcking insane!

And that would sure solve the mystery!

I'll have to look up exactly what was said but even today it's being talked about and the response from Mike Frank is that the staff is not as high on Callaway as others.

He came to II and they saw him work out and were not impressed.

Get this guy on campus, figure out the rest later. Too talented to turn away if he wants in.

I always trust the staff, but if they are not high on him it's a head scratcher. Maybe they are pulling the okie doke on other schools.

I understand the frustration with taking a guy like Alloway over Callaway but not Claypool or McKinley, that news shouldn't surprise anybody, IMO. In fact I'd only be shocked if we turned away those guys for Callaway, he's not the prospect those other two are. Now Alloway is a different story.

alloway can play slot and rb as a 3rd down back which is added value...callaway could play in the secondary and be a take but is set on wr

It pains me to potentially turn away talent like this kid has. Tell him and give him his first shot at WR with the open understanding that if he doesn't separate himself quickly that he may get moved to another position. If we wants on board knowing that he may not play WR for sure, then sign him up. If he wants no part of that and is 100% set on WR, then I understand the dilemma. I just don't get how we would be his #1 in that case. I want him in this class badly... along with Claypool, McKinley and Stepherson. I hope the numbers work out and he's a member of the Irish in 2016.

I'm sure the staff is approaching this the right way and there's more going on behind the scenes that no one fully knows about...I just hate the thought of missing out on Callaway due to our own numbers crunch but I guess that's the name of the game sometimes.

I second this. A 6'2" ATH from GA with a 97 comp rating and strong offer list shouldn't be turned away if ND is his true #1 and he's willing to accept the fact that he'll be treated as an ATH (not strictly a WR).

The staff has made some brilliant moves in the past, but they've also made some questionable ones that bit them in the ass down the road. I hope this doesn't become a case of the latter.

And he is from SEC territory.. don't understand this.
