I would agree, but staffs make mistakes too. Lots of them.

Per TV, Callaway is telling people that Notre Dame is his leader.
If this is true and he ends up being a part of this class, this class could be potentially have McKinley, Claypool, Callaway, and Stepherson. Oh my.
Just like Claypool, just get Callaway on the roster and worry about his position later. But yes, he would play receiver or in the secondary
We also lead for Alloway too. I thought we were only taking two WR's in this class? Where does the staff see Callaway playing? We could take Claypool and turn him into a LB or DE, Callaway can play DB safety or Corner, Stepherson is set at WR, Mckinley can play WR and Alloway Slot/RB? (Carile Replacement)
Most of these guys can play multiple positions. Claypool at TE/DE/OLB. Alloway and Calloway can play in the secondary and Perry might outgrow the secondary and end up a LB. Lots of flexibility with guys like these. An embarrassment of riches, if you will.
ISD had an article not long ago saying that the staff want impressed with Calloway. That he was a pass at this point so I'm a little confused.

I am confused with your post.
Does it say : "ISD had an article not long ago saying that the staff wasn't impressed with Calloway, and that he was a pass at this point. So I'm a little confused."
Or were you saying : "ISD had an article not long ago saying that the staff was impressed with Calloway; but that he was a pass at this point. So I'm a little confused."
I thought the article implied that while he looked good, they were uncertain of how he would translate to the field.
I always trust the staff, but if they are not high on him it's a head scratcher. Maybe they are pulling the okie doke on other schools.

I understand the frustration with taking a guy like Alloway over Callaway but not Claypool or McKinley, that news shouldn't surprise anybody, IMO. In fact I'd only be shocked if we turned away those guys for Callaway, he's not the prospect those other two are. Now Alloway is a different story.
It pains me to potentially turn away talent like this kid has. Tell him and give him his first shot at WR with the open understanding that if he doesn't separate himself quickly that he may get moved to another position. If we wants on board knowing that he may not play WR for sure, then sign him up. If he wants no part of that and is 100% set on WR, then I understand the dilemma. I just don't get how we would be his #1 in that case. I want him in this class badly... along with Claypool, McKinley and Stepherson. I hope the numbers work out and he's a member of the Irish in 2016.
I'm sure the staff is approaching this the right way and there's more going on behind the scenes that no one fully knows about...I just hate the thought of missing out on Callaway due to our own numbers crunch but I guess that's the name of the game sometimes.
I second this. A 6'2" ATH from GA with a 97 comp rating and strong offer list shouldn't be turned away if ND is his true #1 and he's willing to accept the fact that he'll be treated as an ATH (not strictly a WR).
The staff has made some brilliant moves in the past, but they've also made some questionable ones that bit them in the ass down the road. I hope this doesn't become a case of the latter.
