I just watched a montage of Claypool just being a horrific blocker which I absolutely don't remember being the case at ND but maybe I'm misremembering.
He’s probably one of the best blockers all time at nd…. I always was frustrated he didn’t play more early because you could see his talent. Pretty clear why now. Amazing Kelly got him to focus for 2 years

He could be an H Back too or punter. That article was pure speculation

Can they pay him more cuz he's from Canukastan?

If you were him, which team would you choose? I'd definitely sign with the Hamilton Hoser's #TakeOff

Even with below-average effort he should be a WR4 and a good ST guy. What a waste

He was every bit that headcase at Notre Dame too.
But he made plays. The attitude and head case just caught up to him in the NFL, and clearly the franchises also don’t want to deal with his toxicity.

Hamilton Tiger Cats, or TiCats.

The league minimum for rookies is $65,000 annually. A few years ago, the Toronto Argonauts tried to sign T. J. Jones, a Canadian by birth, to a $200k/yr contract but the deal was voided by the league office.

As for Claypool, he is from Abbotsford, BC, which is less than an hour from Vancouver. The hometown team for him would be the BC Lions (who play out of Vancouver), but it’s not a guarantee he would play there. He is not currently on their negotiation list.

The CFL has something called negotiation lists, which give each team a chance to strike a contract with a certain player should that player decide to play in Canada. Most of those players are on active NFL rosters/practice squads. It may be unusual to hear, but teams will trade negotiation rights for players on their lists for draft picks (yes, the CFL does have its own draft for Canadian born players across the NCAA and CIS).

Long story short…Claypool’s rights could be moved to another team.

Did he get a head injury in the league? Serious question. Cause he went from producing to talking shit unnecessarily and becoming a bad locker room guy very quickly. He had a mouth on him at ND on the field but not like when he called out the Browns for losing at KC in the playoffs after the Steelers had already been eliminated. Plus that lack of hustle that cost the Steelers a game…

Perfect proof of how hard it actually is to have a good to average career in the league. Talent wise he had it.... Didn't have it upstairs

It's not the end of the world, but you really hate to see a career play out like this. Some people take longer to grow up and some never do. We'll know if a couple of years where he falls.

Claypool is a massive disappointment. Dude clearly has the potential to be a top level receiver, as shown in his rookie year.

But then his mouth got bigger than his game.

Would've been nice for him to actually give a crap. Definitely would help with receiving recruits to point to a dominant receiver in the league.

Maybe after Miami he hit rock bottom and is ready to turn it around. Plenty of guys don't really grow-up till their late 20s.

Or maybe not. There is no reason to think this part of life will click anytime soon.

i wish my rock bottom was making 1.5m or so per year on an NFL team while being chiseled. i actually think that would be my life ceiling.
