I’m not mad just not excited either.

I’m pretty excited. It seems there is clear improvement in his game since the end of the VT game. He’s really opened up this offense. And I agree with Keys that WR group should be sick next year. I think you’re going to have a pretty diverse group with regards to skill set.

I think this will be good for the team. Another year of experience and another off season to improve. Should be fun.

I'm fine with this, and with the team we have coming back and the shake up at OC, it's the right call. You can open up a QB competition to push Book. If Phil still can't beat him out going into his 3rd year on campus, he's either not ready or he's not the guy.

Maybe someone with better knowledge of the Central Michigan years can confirm, but I think this would be the very first 3rd year QB of BK’s coaching career?

As I’ve seen the same. It’s just yet to remain certain until we play Clemson next year. His Michigan performance turned me half-off. I don’t see him as a game changer unless he’s running the ball which I really hope that’s what Kelly does with him next year knowing he has “the future” behind Book.

Without digging in too much, I really have no idea. He was there a couple years before me.

So tired of "fans" trashing a guy because he has the nerve to be the best player at his position on the roster.

Yes, I also wanted Phil to be a five star prospect. But I don't talk shit about Jayson Ademilola because Darnell Ewell didn't pan out.

Another year of mediocrity and a 5 star transfer to boot.

Can’t blame him though. He knows his coach plays favorites and will be the starter no matter what and it sure beats getting a job.

In what world is 11 wins mediocre? They’ve won 33 games over 3 seasons, I’d hardly call that mediocre also.

Fine by me, easier bridge to Tyler Buchner.

Kidding aside... if we can get the Book we saw for the final 5 games for an entire season it'd be silly not to want him back. Played his position at a top 10 level.

I agree with you, however, the WR corps will not feature an elite Boykin/Claypool big body type Ian has seemed to favor. It will be a lot more explosive across the board if the top four are Austin/Keys/Johnson/Lenzy. I hope Ian can make the most of that group’s strengths.

Kmet will feast in the 2020 offense if he returns. If he doesn’t I’m not sure who fills that role. I don’t think that’s Tremble’s game.

This, times a million.

Stars mean absolutely nothing once you actually get to college. You either achieve potential, or you don't. Scout analysis provides no guarantees. People need to quit referring to players as "5 star" or "3 star." They're student athletes, and they either start or they're currently a backup. Don't blame the "3 star" for executing when the "5 star" is currently 2nd on the depth chart.

Your absolutely right.. 33 wins in 3 years is awesome indeed. I was referring to the QB play. We can win all our supposed to win games with Book. Nothing terrible about that. Just don’t have faith that Book can lead us to a playoff win or beat Clemson next year. Hope I’m wrong!

Like him, but I’ll not believe he can beat a very good team until I see it. Too many happy feet, skittish, uneven performances against the best teams we’ve played. I’m like some others here - not mad, not excited. I’m pretty sure everyone saw this coming though. It’s kind of a shame we’ll likely never see Jurkovec get meaningful reps. I did like what little I saw during the season.

I will say that our ceiling is pretty defined (yeah I know he helped us go 12-0 as a starter most of the year). I’m very happy to have a B to B plus QB, however this team probably needs a guy with higher upside to close the gap and Book ain’t it based on a pretty extensive track record.

I liked his improvements at the end, but it gives me no confidence that he won’t “Clemson” or “Michigan” again when challenged by a very good team. Not saying Phil should play in front of Book next year (Book put the competition away in his last games this year), I just was looking forward to seeing if Phil turns out to be what everyone hoped.

Pretty unfair to say if he can’t unseat a QB like Book (very good record, pretty good in most games), that Phil stinks. My hope is he stays for the degree realizing he’s a play away from being able to prove his mettle. If Book runs more as he has lately, that chance is not a long shot.

At the end of the day Book is stability. Phil probably leaves. If Book gets nicked up, Clark provides backup duties (unless Pyne tears it up in practice). Pyne beats out Clark in 2021 and place holds for the next savior in Buchner. I’m a big fan of him and think he’s the real deal.....although I’ll admit I was a pretty big fan of Phil too

Either way, these are good problems- having 4.5 star QBs leaving because the guy in front of him is too good to beat out.

tOSU has way more talent than we do according to recruiting sites, but they couldn't beat Clemson either. Regardless of Clemson's status, Book is currently the best QB on the roster.

I referenced Clemson because they are on the schedule. You can replace them with any top tier team and I feel the same. I disagree with you. And that’s okay. That’s what sports is all about. I just want us to be elite and not happy with losing all our big games

It's very hard to compete with the real football factories when they abide by a different set of rules than we do. Austin gets suspended a full season for weed, while Joey Bosa missed one game. That's just one example, we're always shooting ourselves in the foot. It's no wonder we were mediocre for so long.

Agreed but I would really like to see what Jurkovec is capable of. . . .
