I have a strong belief that BK uses his in-home to great effect and lands this kid.
per rivals- they feel Caleb is actually drawn to Kelly not being more involved
What? I don't understand...

he likes how BK is like a ceo and not so micromanaging and allows his coaches to coach the players

I think that's from a coaching perspective. Caleb mentioned that he likes that Kelly doesn't micromanage every situation.
And run the offense.
I see. I read that as he likes that BK doesn't talk to him
If I were a betting man that's where my money would be right now as well, hopefully BK can change it with the in home.
Elston on his way to see Kelly.
I have to admit I am optimistic about this one, just based on the kind of kid Caleb is. He seems like he'd be a great fit at ND (I didn't think JuJu was coming, BTW).
I actually think the challenge is going to be selling BVG's defense. We'll need to explain why things are going to change going forward.
Today? Who reported this? JW.

If I were a defensive recruit I'd have plenty of questions about the ND defense
Me too. But I have a feeling we'll land Kelly if we can overcome that hurdle.
We need someone to replace the Butkus winner and we think you are that guy. Not a bad sales pitch.
Strong pitch to an 18 year old kid. Pretend you're the dad.
"Coach, there's a lot we like about Notre Dame but we've also done our homework. Why do teams with less talent (Penn State, Wisconsin, Boston College, Pitt) perform so much better than your defense"?
Did I mention that our last two HS Butkus award winners were all-americans and contended for national championships? One nearly won the Heisman and both were high draft picks. Meanwhile, unlike the other schools you mentioned, we will prepare your son to be a man by meeting expectations both on and off the field as well as becoming a world class leader that will propel your son throughout his life.
oh.....and do you have a blow up mattress I can use tonight as I watch your kid sleep?

Still want to know why those teams' defenses are better than yours, coach.

I'm curious why a defense being not-great would be a turn off to an elite defensive prospect that is shown that they can get a talented player to play at an uber-elite level.
Like, why would it matter to Kelly that the defense gives up points? Or that Joe Schmidt struggled at times? Or that Redfield is impossibly bad? Literally... why does that matter to someone like Kelly or McCulloch at all?
This isn't like offense, where the overall success of the offense matters to a QB or RB where everything is interconnected and someone not doing their job can directly impact your ability to showcase your skills (or can impact you in a great way if you have a Wisconsin level OL, etc.)

To an outsider looking in, Van Gorder is obsessed with his scheme and sticking to it no matter the personnel or their strengths (Jaylon flying off the edge, Trumbetti rushing QBs) or weaknesses (Rochell in pass coverage, Schmidt blitzing).
