Surely our staff knew some things all along.
Possibles: A). he really wanted to stay in state despite the gabble talk; B). he is considered to have not too much further upside despite being "as is" a top high school DT; C). Staff considered him to be such an unlikely ND commit, again despite the gabble talk, that they realized it was a waste of time gamble-wise. Or, something else we don't know. "Higher on our board" does not mean just "higher talent"; lots of pragmatic things are going into that ranking list.
This staff is not a bunch of idiots making decisions without having thought of all the things we bring up miles ahead of IE "intelligence", except, of course, for those IEers who "knew it a month ago."
that was me
I knew that.

I know you did.
Rack-em: since I find it totally un-useful to throw personal slurs and worse to attempt to create friction, I'll reply by saying that the best solution to trying to change my general comment about the board's responses to many things into some specific swipe at somebody would be to assume that I was making a jab at you. That way we'll all be happy.
The offensive comment that you refer to was for most of us a board standing joke, which seems not to be as apparent to all of us as I thought.

the "i knew a month ago" was like a meme of the year contender (winner?) in the past no? I wouldn't take it as a dig at anyone.
The phrase was a mantra of a poster who like to tout his recruiting prescience, after the fact, without providing any substance of the claim. It was a put down of others sharing recruiting news. There were some combative exchanges along the way and one day that poster got an earned board vacation.
Upon learning of the banishment another poster, tongue in cheek, exclaimed something like, "What a surprise! Who knew?" (I don't recall if he used italics or not.) Not wishing to see a perfect setup line go to waste I quipped in reply, "I knew that a month ago."
From the volume of reps I received, it seemed quite a few board members shared the humor of the poster being hoisted on his own petard.
It was picked up by many others and become a hackneyed staple on IE.
