Confirmed by 247 and Rivals to be at the Irish Invasion. Same high school as Cole Luke and Coach Steve Belles.

per Intel

ND would be a real player here with an offer. I guess he was unblockable at the camp. His dad also help paint the golden dome

mysteries of recruiting, especially with the way we seem to need to be reloading on the D line with the new scheme BVG's brought in

He has 3 offers total. 5:s: according to Scout/247 =/= 5:s: according to coaching staffs

And yet, he was apparently "unblockable at camp."

They've offered a kid at DE for '16 on potential alone, but not this fellow?

"He did excellent," Scott Rand said. "He went up against some of the top prospects in the country and blew the coaches away. The parents were freaking out too. He said he had a lot of fun and that coach Elliott was a great help."

That's not what Intel says regarding Rand...

Intel stated 'we'd be stretching it if we said we saw the Irish as the leader" even if ND offered. All it said was we would be in the mix, and it doesn't mention his camp performance.

I was surprised that he didn't get an offer. I think it's an easy early offer.

Per rivals Stanford is #1 and if he can get in thats where he'll be going.

You would think Belles could route more players to South Bend. Chandler Hamilton has been AZ's #1 football factory over the last decade. He sent Arizona's top player last year, OT Casey Tucker to Stanford. Tucker had an ND offer.

Stanford does a great job in Arizona. They get a lot of the state's best. Trent Murphy, Andrus Peat, Zach Hoffpauir, Blake Martinez, Casey Tucker and AT Hall this year.

This just makes no sense to me... Rand is backing up all the talk and still no offer for a kid who's coach won a National Championship in South Bend.

There is no reason an offer should not have been extended by now. It's not academics, he holds one from Stanford.

One of the ND assistants should be able to walk around Hamilton and Brophy's campuses blindfolded... throw Scottsdale Chaparral and Saguaro in there too while you're at it.

I agree, I'm not sure what the hold up is. Not sure how many DT's are higher on the board that are realistic options.

I think that should be irrelevant here. No matter how many we have on the board or committed, this is a must offer here!

I agree, I wasn't saying that should be the case. Its just the only thing I can really come up with for why we haven't. DT isn't a dire need this class so I'm guessing numbers will be small (1-2) and we must think we have a shot with guys they like more.

Regardless of who ND thinks is better, you have to offer a guy who's top 10 at his position, qualifies academically, from a top 20 national "football factory", has a former teammate or at least "program-mate" currently on the roster and his HC was Tony Rice's back-up... a guy who has a big, gaudy National Championship ring on his finger everyday at practice! What more has to happen.... Father Hesburgh baptized him?

Something else to consider... ND is a popular team in Phoenix metro. It's sorta like the Cubs being the next most popular team to the DBacks, ND will be well represented at every bar on Saturdays and most times are only outnumbered by ASU and UofA. I would seriously guess that 50%+ of the people in Chandler moved there from someplace within 5 hours away from South Bend.

Sanford hit the ground running in California (hat's off to him)) but as a former Stanford recruiting director, I'd think he would have already been in Rand's and Murphy's living rooms. Stanford has owned Arizona in the near past... especially ND / RKG's.

Obviously his flight was non-stop ORD to LAX with no lay over in PHX.

He's bound to commit to Stanford at any time

Staff probably has other guys rated higher, at least hope they do

Unless the staff is 100% sure Rashan Gary is heading to South Bend, there is no excuse to offer this guy, especially when they witnessed his ability first hand and deemed him "unblockable".

He wouldn't even be a slam dunk to land here, Stanford is the major favorite here. I think there is most likely a reason the staff hasn't offered if they have seen him first hand. It most likely means that they have players higher on the board. Also lets just just throw an offer out there to throw an offer out there. Especially at a position where we aren't in dyer need of bodies. Nice player though, no doubt but not someone I am going to stand on the table for begging for an offer plus it's not like Hamilton High school which sends multiple players to D1 schools every year has been super friendly to ND.

I understand your reasoning, but I just don't agree. Yes, DT isn't a position of dire need, but simply put, you don't pass on elite DT's. You just don't. It's how teams like Alabama continue to dominate up front and have elite defenses. And in terms of the high school not being "super friendly", didn't somebody say that the Head Coach played for ND under Lou Holtz? I don't see how that would make things difficult to pull a recruit out of there when you have connections in the school.

Who is ND looking at at DT anyways?

Not a fan of OL vs DL pass rushing drills in no pads on the whole, Rand looks like he has some quickness though

This guys trail went cold. Even with a US Army invite, just haven't heard too much about him. Seems to have been downgraded in size to 6-2 and still listed at 275. Not ideal weight and size for sure. Looks like he'll stay home at ASU but he is visiting Wisco soon after they offered him recently.
