That's kinda strong, man. He didn't fuck over the team. We're fine and he owned up. You can't expect kids to be perfect all of the time.

I'm sure we can overcome this easily, but does it ever really stop after this? You just get this sick feeling that we're going to lose more to injury or some other stupid reason. Why can't we have nice things? We play by the rules and this is what we get? This some ol' bullsh*t.

Its certainly disappointing but I agree.

Not to mention, while Jones would have been great to have and primed for a big year, between St. Brown, Boykin, Weishar and Smythe all have skills that can replace Jones. Alize was just, hopefully, the full package. The offense will be fine.

Amazing coincidence that Stanford never seems to lose starters to academic issues...

I would trade any of our QBs for a year for Alize. He was one play maker on offense that seemed sure fire. The remaining TEs aren't scaring anyone. Thank God Luatua came back just so we have bodies.

Smythe could easily break out this year, and having Luatua back at least gives us the option of utilizing "12" personnel sets.

Jones has tons of potential, but surefire play maker this year? I think that Hunter is more proven, (and Adams), and that ESB has a similar level of potential (I am also rather bullish on McKinley).

Can you repeat and break down your first sentence in this post so I understand it a little more please

It sucks to lose Jones for the year but it's not like anyone but he can do anything about it.

What's the movie that had the quote "It's quiet...Too quiet" ? That was pretty much the off season until today. I'm not a pessimist but I've pretty much come to expect it in recent years.

So that leaves ND without a single apostrophe on the active roster.

We're screwed

So sick of this shit. Following ND football is like being promised a hot fudge sundae all summer then right before the fall you get kicked in the balls.

This definitely sucks, but let's remember all the injuries this team faced last year, and the next man always stepped up.

I hope Aliz'e comes back strong in 2017!

Meanwhile, at Bama, guns and weed, won't miss a week.

You really want us to be Bama, why? Go root for them and your life will be much less complicated. It's an honor and privilege to play football at ND and I am proud as hell for what they did today instead of sweeping it under the rug like 98% of the country would have done. Aliz'e is gonna be a better man because of this, next man in and let's rock n roll.

It's frustrating though... I don't want to be Bama and have zero moral compass, but I also don't want to be to the point where players get suspended for the entire year for things that apparently won't get players at even Stanford, Nortwestern or other academic schools out for more than one half of one game... Id be very happy with a slight shift to towards 'the win at all costs' side of things, keep a few more players eligible and remain, most likely, the strictest school in big boy CFB... Still.

** to be clear, this is more of a lingering thought than a reaction to just Jones... It's just more relevant now obviously.

This kind of $hit is apart of being a student athlete at ND and being a fan of ND football. Why sweep these things under the rug and possibly get caught if not handled properly?

And I thought academics were important at Stanford and Northwestern....I read more and more articles from ND players (past and present) how ND makes them a better man; I don't read too many of those articles from Stanford or Northwestern players.

Good for ND doing this, when being recruited the kids know that academics are tough at ND.

I agree with GBdomer, next man in and lets rock n roll!
