Listen, Wimbush is our guy, but I honestly don't think we will miss much of a beat with Book against a mess of a UNC squad. If this was USC, I may feel different. But I think where Book lags Wimbush in running ability, he makes up for throwing the ball. We will be alright if he gets the nod in this game.

Agree. It's not like Wimbush is a multi year starter. He's still learning and Book has shown promise also. Besides, the running game is pretty established. Unless UNC can stop the run and force Book to win it himself, this should be a good test. I am not considering this automatic win by any measure but Elko has experience with UNC so surprises should be minimal.

I hate UNC and I am not able to talk as much trash as I intended because of this, which sucks!!

I think Book would affect the line only minimally.

This game is all about an overpowering oline, great running backs, big receivers a very strong D against a team horribly beaten up with injuries.

It would actually be an opportunity to get Book some important game experience in case Wimbush does go down later against a much stronger opponent

First of all, I don't think anyone is "cocky" our short-term memory isn't that dominant, we know what happened last season.

Secondly, it appears that people feel "confident" that UNC will be beatable, even with Book. And they have sighted good reasons 1) Brandon isn't a superstar yet 2) UNC's defense is awful 3) their playing defeated morally, etc etc.

Saying, "we don't need Brandon" isn't cocky, it's just confidence with the given parameters.

I don't think anyone is saying that. I think they are saying that Book is more than capable to run this offense to where it shouldn't matter much against a lesser opponent.

For everyone saying we'll be fine with Book, how nearsighted of you. BW is our QB and he's still green and inconsistent AF. He needs as many live snaps as humanly possible before SC, Miami, and Stanford. I have no doubt we can afford to lose BW for the UNC game, but not if it's at the cost if crucial developmental PT prior to SC...

This is unfortunate that BW is injured. However i hope the coaches make the right decision. If BW is only 75% then i think it would be a huge mistake to let him play especially when his get out of trouble weapon is dinged up.

I do not believe they will play BW unless he is over 90%. I agree it would be great to have him getting more game time experience. I also don't think it will be detrimental to his development if he doesn't play against UNC. IMO, there is some development that comes from watching on the sidelines and seeing things as they develop that could actually help him.

If BW would play while not 100% he might get more confidence in what he is seeing in his reads if he can't run. It may benefit him, and it may not.

It can help his timing with individual receivers and his mechanics if whatever is wrong with his foot can take it. I remember Jimmy Clausen struggling to pass with turf toe.

He might better spend his time with Rees watching video of HIS play through five games seeing the open receivers he's NOT seeing. Going through the read options he's holding the ball on too long to better his decision making. On several of the pass incompletions he had an open receiver but waited too long before throwing allowing a defender to recover from being beat. The receiver had achieved separation it took Brandon too long to make the decision. There are too many times he jumps from the pocket when the pocket is holding. Is it that he can't see over the OLs, if so speak up to the OC to change the plays. Or again is it decisions making errors in this case pulling it down to soon to take off by foot. With an injured foot it isn't prudent to be practicing pocket integrity in real time. If one of those OLs, TEs, or RBs, or a defender inadvertently steps on his foot or he re-injures himself with a misstep forget USC.

He needs more on foot work and mechanics but he needs evenmore on his vision, reads, and improving his decision making. That can be done with a coach in the video room.

I do not want him out but I would like him as healthy as possible against USC so if sitting him out this week followed by a bye week would help I am all for it. We should be able to beat NC with book they are 117th against the run and I think book can make enough plays in the passing game to keep them honest.

If i had to guess he does individual drills, skeleton drills, and minimal in full team.

Gets him his reps, his pass reads, etc, but minimal on live action. But im just a vbookie!

I'll be surprised if coaches can't yell out to whichever QB they have playing in the middle of the game. The noise level in the stadium will probably be like an 8th grade game.

ND can beat UNC, with Book at QB, by running the ball down their throats and throwing a few play action passes. UNC can't put 11 guys in the box and 8 won't cut it. They are too depleted and will be worn down by the 3rd quarter from a downhill running attack.
