For example, the INT, was a phenomenal pocket and easy read/pass to ESB. He threw WAY too high. ESB was wide open. It's not ESB's fault he didn't come down with that ball

I'm shocked that people have dumped on him so quickly.. He has a rocket of an arm, but hes been extremely bad with going through progressions. I believe the next two weeks the game will begin to slow down for him and he will settle down and stop pressing on his throws..

He will be a much better passer against USC then he was against Georgia and BC

Watching Kelly Bryant of Clemson, who I believe is the same age as Winbush and is making the same number of starts, there is no comparison. Bryant looked fairly smooth throwing and looked more comfortable running the ball. Bryant is who I envisioned Winbush looking like this year. He will hopefully develop throughout the season but right now he looks all kind of messed up in the passing game.

He's been bad in the passing game, but hopefully things will start to change once teams stop selling out on the pressure--knowing they need to try to keep him from gashing them on the ground.

He's going to be hard to stop.

Terell Pryor 2.0

If we can keep winning while he fixes the fundamentals , he could be great!

Go Irish!!!

Comparisons to other QBs don't mean alot. What kind of protection are they getting in comparison. I believe Wimbush is shell shocked from the Georgia game where he had little to no protection. Given a more consitant protection he should settle down and his accuracy should improve. Right now he is still expecting the pocket to collapse and not getting set. That is one of the reasons why he had 207 yards rushing.

1. Speed isn't talent, especially for a quarterback. Speed helps, but TALENT means an ability to pass the damn football.

2. And spare me the repetitive nonsense about him being a "rookie." College football players don't develop like that. They either have it or they don't. Half the teams in the country are playing a "rookie" at any given time.

Speed is talent. If it wasn't, everyone would have it. IMO he just gave opposing defenses a lot more to prepare for with his speed and ability to get out in the open. This game could have been exactly what he needs to buy time in the pocket. The defense can't just come after him without staying in their lanes thus creating a pocket to feel more comfortable in.

Any person saying Wimbush doesn't have it and should be benched for Book should have their account deleted. Running on all cylinders now!

I am not even remotely sold on the idea that BW isn't the man, but if this is all cylinders, it's time to trade the lease in early.

This isn't all cylinders IMO but it is a big step in his growth.

Gotta keep this running game strong. Wimbush looked comfortable and only needed to attempt 20 passes in a dominating win in East Lansing.

Looked much, much better tonight.
No obviously bad throws. Only a couple of times where he bugged out on the pass and ran.
I liked how we called a few (relatively simple) pass plays on the first possession to get him comfortable, especially in his first hostile road game.

I think BW is going to be just fine. A couple more games and he should be good to go. Had a solid game tonight without any big mistakes and proved that he can throw the ball when needed.

Nah, I think with North Carolina's injuries, Book could come in and lead the team to a victory in Chapel Hill. But the staff does need to be more conscious of how long they leave him in.

Should we panic?

I for one am just waiting for the reports that it happened in a bar fight, along with Dexter Williams, Josh Adams, EQ, Daeilin Hayes and Drue Tranquil, that all started because a student accused them and the entire offensive line of plagiarizing his book report on Dante's Inferno, leading to Tommy Rees kicking a police officer while bailing them out. Hearing Kelly has been terminated for losing control of his players and Longo has been hired as interim coach.

Hopefully Dad4aa pops in with the scoop.

My buddy sent me a text this morning from South Bend saying, "rumor is, Wimbush broke a bone in his foot outside a bar last night." But said he got one text about it and nothing else. So that ain't news.

Sounds like Sampson knows about it but either is sitting on it or doesn't know anything, possibly because there's nothing to report.

I guess I could check into it, ND's staff podiatrist played for me in college.

I hear he tried his best roundhouse kick but missed. Yoon's tutelage has not led to much development on that front

"Broke a bone in his foot outside a bar" is broad enough that it could be just a drunken injury, rather than a fight. Small consolation, I know, but it could be the difference between a suspension and being kicked off the team down the road.

I don't believe it at all. That doesn't fit with the normal luck of the Irish.

Is the "bar" part of this just made-up BS? Nothing would be more likely than he got dinged in the game. Why is this "bar" story taking over this thread?

the initial question to Sampson on twitter was because of rumors the injury occurred during a bar fight.

Obviously, him being in a boot would have raised questions eventually, but the fact the bar story was flying around before the boot was observed in public is most likely why its being discussed still.
