Kelly wants to send a message and regain control. This is the boldest move he can make and I think he pushes his chips all in on this one...

Invading Russia was the boldest move Hitler made.

If Kelly benches Kizer for Wimbush he should be fired before that game starts.

Do people really think Kelly would bench Kizer? Everett literally handed the ball to opposing teams and didn't sit util the bowl game. It's coach speak. He is just sending a message.

Team Wimbush and the staff have an agreement. He isn't putting him in even if DK got hurt longterm.

It was also the boldest move Napoleon made. You think Hitler would have learned.

I have a real problem with Kelly and his pc Saturday.

I think he had not had his conversation with his management to that point and was tiptoeing through his own Kelly green reality.

The problem can't have anything to do with offense or play selection on offense, right?

The morale problem caused by have clearly the wrong guy in a coordinator position can't bleed back from the defense to affect the whole team, right?

At the time of the press conference when Kelly singled Dexter Williams as the only guy who showed enthusiasm, and stated that the long snapper was safe, he had not been put on a performance plan of his own. I believe Kelly has until the end of the season to work through some of this bull shit.

So now with BVG gone, Kelly doesn't have to manufacture the silly shit he purported in the press conference.

And as a postscript : ND's only problem with run blocking is a combination of the crazy unrelenting zone blocking scheme Kelly insists upon, the play selection, and the game position the team gets in, namely that they have to pass to win.

Finally, scripting for a lack of success, (which is the thing Kelly got right about bad coaching and all,) makes it hard for any 19 or 20 year old kid to play like a champion.

Saturday DeShone went 22 of 37, with one interception, for 381 yards. He threw for 2 TD's and rushed for 44 yards, and was sacked twice.

As to your point about a morale problem because of BVG it should be noted that the defensive players like Van Gorder. There was no morale issue. There is a scheme and talent issue though.

I was one of the critical ones about Kizer and his missed throws, but he still had a decent game. No way has his play merited for him to be benched in favor of another QB, especially Wimbush

Kizer is the starter. The problem has not been Kizer or the part of the offense that Kizer can control.

For all the talk about Harry Hiestand and his recruiting prowess, his offensive lines have not run-blocked very well. Whether the fault lies with Hiestand, Kelly's pass-happy offense, poor play calling, or somewhere else, the problem is not Kizer's fault. A team that stands at 1-3 cannot afford to dump one of its few positives, just because it is frustrated.

Everyone knows where the problem lies, and it isn't on the offensive side of the ball. Part of the problem has been eliminated with the firing of VanGorder. Hudson's impact is likely to be minimal at best. He will need time to install a new defensive scheme, and he will be gone or back to his analyst position before that happens. For now, he'd be better off working on tackling and instilling some aggressiveness. This defense has no fire, no leadership, no intensity. They look like the church choir out there.

Agreed. Zero run game has really contributed to our issues on offense and affected Kizer.

The line has been terrible run blocking, oddly enough. It's like we don't want to be physical?

No way in hell he benches Kizer.

Maybe he'll start Zaire, so Syracuse can stack the box and we'll see a heavy dose of zone reads for no gain. Should be a fun Saturday.

Playing wimbush this year would be ludacris. The seasons already over with, why burn his redshirt. And we have a good QB this year Kizers numbers are better than last year if you look at it. Maybe the coaches need to throw in some more plays instead of the same damn plays every weekend.

... There is a scheme and talent issue though.

the defensive line is absolutely atrocious....bad DLine play makes the LB's look completely out of place, makes the LB's have to come off more blocks, and makes the safeties HAVE TO support the run. Bad D-line play F's up the entire defensive scheme. Outside of Tillery (and he seems to be a softy - and not in a good way) I'm not seeing anything on the DLine that is going to fix it...No sacks until the 4th game of the season is pretty pathetic

If BK is dumb enough to play Wimbush with a decent backup on the bench already, then God help the man because he is so far gone, nothing short of God will fix him.

I think BK was just making a point during the PC that he is willing to go a little crazy to get some wins

Are we really talking about Winbush playing over both Zaire and Kizer....lol. If that happens it is quite obvious he has lost the upperclassmen and both quarterbacks and I can't see this ending well.

Is this for real?

No freaking way he plays Wimbush with 3 losses and two capable QB's.

And those two capable QB's, are the least of our problems right now.

If Mike Frank doesn't know the deal in place between Team Wimbush and the staff then he has gone from insider to outsider.

No inside knowledge of "the deal" but it sure appears to be redshirt this year and have at least two years, maybe three, of eligibility as the best QB on the roster after Zaire (after this year) and Kizer (after this year or next) move along.
That's the only thing that makes sense, both for Wimbush and the program. Torching Wimbush's redshirt when you've got Kizer playing at a high level and Zaire as a capable backup makes zero sense and it won't happen.

Kelly cares more about his job than Wimbush's redshirt. I think Wimbush era starts very soon and Kizer and Malik both transfer

This is asinine. Kizer has been one of the top rated QBs in all of FBS. His interception was bad but before that he was doing incredibly well.

Most teams can win with an offense averagin 30+ pts /game. Our running game has been almost non-existent and Kizer has still manager to churn out the yards.

Absurd to talk about putting Wimbush in. He wouldn't be an upgrade right now. Kizer is a baller.

I can't believe this actually has to be discussed.
