I'd be fine with him leaving. Not because he doesn't have talent, but I feel like this family is a dumbed down version of the Ball family. I feel like if he stays every single throw of Wimbush will be dissected.

Interesting to hear a player and a recruit Dad say that about Kelly, because most the fan base views him differently..

Just interesting..

Not a fan of Wimbush it appears.

JMO, but I've always felt Mr. Brown has never been happy with the number of touches ESB gets. Becoming a run dominant team probably didn't help either.

He's just trying to leave ND on a good note and be mature since it seemed like he had become vocal against ND in the past.

IMO he's hedging his bets and giving the staff a tip of the cap, because he knows Amon isn't going to ND and ESB wants to go pro.

Could be this. The Atkinsons went the other route, burning bridges on their way out of town, and while George did eventually make an NFL team he's seen extremely limited action in 4 years and mostly been on practice squads (15 kickoffs and 7 carries for his entire career). He probably would have benefited from one more year if he had an open mind to change his running style, but instead he left early on bad advice. Could have had a very good year behind that OL in 2014.

I have no reason to think he’s lying. He was very complimentary about some things and very critical about others. Seemed like a straight shooter in that article.

Dad's take on the risk/reward of coming back is at least logical. He may not end up being right, but it seems possible that if ESB comes back it could actually end up hurting him more if he ends up with two down years in a row (if Wimbush can't figure things out).

If Stepherson keeps his head out of his azz, if Claypool keeps progressing he'll become less important. The other thing to remember, Von Mckinley is going to be ready next year and EQ was 1/10 of what Von was in the same neighborhood of SoCal football.

Plus, EQ has a total skill set that the right situation and coaching could make into a longtime pro career.

One thing's for sure, he isn't pushing ASB to South Bend.

I wonder if his dad knows that there are hundreds of EQs in the pros. There's nothing special about him as a receiver.

+1.........You know his dad sees what they did this year and the direction they are heading. If he returns ESB touches could be heading south next year.

6-5 guys that run like him don't grow on trees. He also runs good out routes, working the sidelines well.

If he's a #3-#4 on a team with one of the better QB's, he's a weapon. I'd be stoked if the Bears caught him in Round 5 or later in the '18 draft.

ESB is solid if he’s got a QB who hits him in the hands.

I think EQ should come back, next year I think he will go back to throwing more than we did this year and I got confidence that Wimbush can turn it around. If he leaves this year he will most likely be a late round pick, if he comes back and has a 800-1000 yard year again he could be a 1st or 2nd round pick

EQ leaving early for the NFL would be really, really dumb.

So dumb that it would be compared to when Carleton Scott left early because he thought he was ready for the NBA.

Strong draft analysis my not be your forte

Here's some good draft thoughts on CJ Prosise

Dumbest decision if you ask me. He won't be drafted anywhere in round 1-4. He may go undrafted.

I've already seen few 2018 NFL mock drafts that have him going in the 3rd round.

caveat emptor, etc, etc

ESB without a doubt has some things to work on, but honestly has a ton of upside. He's talented and has produced well in the past. This year part of his struggle was a young Quarterback who struggled and was inconsistent. I think there are quite a few GM's that are willing to take a chance. Not 1-2 rounds, but maybe 3-5 round type of thing. I really don't blame him for wanting to leave and if he has a shot at the NFL then why not! Best of luck to him, I wish him nothing but the best.

Agree. He would go 3-5 round.

He would probably get a pass on lowish production from a number of GM’s this year because of BW’s struggles

While BW missed him a lot, there were several balls EQ could have had if he would have laid out for the catch or fought more aggressively for the ball. I felt he took s little step backwards this year. He seemed more aggressive and tried to catch everything last year.

I too think that he would be in the 3-5 rd range ... more likely in the 4-5 rd. Big decision for him to make. IF he comes back and has a year more like LAST year, then I could see him elevating into the 2nd rd.

If he doesn't get drafted it won't be because of his numbers. Pro scouts are not so shallow with their assessments as to rely on numbers. They rely on what they see and measurables. If ESB doesn't get drafted, it's not Wimbush's fault.

Precisely...just ask every WR in the NFL who played at LSU
