If Kizer finishes this year at the level he should based on the way he started the season and looks to be developing, he may be one of the top couple of picks in the draft.

I don't think Kizer has even thought about it, but I would bet whether he returns in that scenario is all about how good of insurance policy he gets. I would think it needs a bit better than Smith's, in covering his losses in dropping within the first round.

:krazy:

I am certain he has thought about it.

If he is one of the first couple picks, there is no shot in hell he comes back.

Since everyone is saying Kizer played like crap today. I'll join in here.

EQ played like shit today. That fumble was inexcusable. They Duke layers were trying to strip the ball the whole time and he didn't tighten his grip or just get done. Complete jackass play.

He also had 2 or 3 drops. Complete shit show from him today.

Ok.

Now I know you're trolling.

Very mature.

Mods, clean this guy up.

There's definitely room to beef on his performance tonight.

The strip fumble was definitely a bad move and deserves criticism, but young players are going to make mistakes like that. I'm reminded of a play Floyd made his freshman year when he was getting tackled and attempted to lateral the ball to another player...I think that also resulted in a turnover. Sometimes young players try to do too much and it backfires. He'll learn from this, but you're right. We're far from a perfect team right now.

I can't fault him too much for the fumble because Kelly complained about lack of fire. EQ's desire to strive to get a few extra yards showed fire and grit to me. He just needed to protect the ball better.

Fighting for extra yards is okay, but you have to know when to get down. I learned that lesson the hard way myself. I played Varsity football, but I would also play full tackle, no pads pickup ball with friends on the side. I was always a linemen, but in a pickup game I was lethal with the ball in my hands because no one could bring me down one on one. I would typically drag 2-3 guys for 5-10 yards...but all the while the defense was clawing and punching at the ball. Everyone is going to fumble eventually when you give a defense enough smacks at the ball, and the longer I tried to drag defenders, the more often I ended up losing the ball. Sometimes you just have to learn to end the play.

Yeah, I understand that. He definitely could have and probably should have just "Marvin Harrison-ed" it and went down once three guys were on him. But it was nice to see that extra fight in a player, even though it was early in the game.

Our players in general need to understand ball security better but that's the BK era. They need to know that at a certain point just fall down those 2 or 3 extra yards aren't worth it. He had a few catches he should have made but he is still very young in his playing time so i will forgive him for that. Overall had a good came.

Again, Sherm said that EQ "played like shit... A complete shit show."

He is clearly overreacting, and targeting the two top performers from yesterday.

He's just trying to create a shit show, himself.

6 catches. 116 yards. And a TD. Pretty good stat line.

Yes. But could have easily had 9 or 10 with 200 yards. I remember two (consecutive) drops and one third down where Kizer overthrew on a crossing route that he didn't even try for. Probably a couple other missed opportunities I've blocked out.
ESB is our best receiver right now, but with a little more focus (and experience) he can be significantly better. Dude could also use a sandwich or two. Terrified he's going to get snapped in half out there.

Torii is the best receiver, period.

That blew my mind when i saw it live. He had to lose it in the crowd or something. I understand the angle could have made it look worse but it looked close enough to make an attempt on it anywho.. Was hoping to see a picture of the play from another angle. Something tells me that 2013-14 Corey Robinson would have laid out and caught that. That's one of the reasons you have 6-5 WR's afterall.

I'm just trying to do what everyone else is doing in Kizer's thread.

I don't believe what I wrote. He played well, but made mistakes, he is young.

Same goes for Kizer.

If you are going to criticizes Kizer the same should be for the fuck ups EQ made.

Personally I wouldn't criticize either play yesterday. They both played well, had mistakes and are young players.

I think ESB may be our most explosive offensive player. He's inexperienced and prone to dumb mistakes, but by the time he leaves ND he'll be mentioned with guys like Fuller, Shark, Floyd, Tate and T. Brown.

No love for Derek Mayes. Smdh. If Derek Mayes played now he would be putting up stupid numbers.

No, he's not overreacting......ESB, while he did play well at times, also played poorly at tines. Yes, he's young, but so is almost every player we have in the defensive secondary, and as a result of that, BVG is no longer coaching in South Bend.

How is he not overreacting? He called a 100+ yard game, with a TD, "complete shit".

He was our leading receiver... Were the other receivers not worse?

Saying, "he missed opportunities" or "made mistakes" is understandable.

"Complete shit" is how the defense played. Not how ESB played.

I remember seeing Jerry Rice and many others drop passes...it happens. Some of you need to get over yourself and understand these are young guys that will improve and, unfortunately, have bad days once in awhile.

His hands are far superior to Fuller's at that age.

Oops, I forgot he was younger than Fuller, I assume he will also run a 4.3 in two years. He's a keeper but wasn't all American all day. That strip when he knew they were after it was weak sauce and he missed a couple passes by not running through. We can't have this many players making mistakes that are avoidable......Kizer, Yoon, Adams, Stephenson. I've stopped harping on the joke of a defense as sucking has been a given since Redfield got canned. The offense knows they need to be better than this and in every game they have left at least 14 points on the field and set up at least one of our opponents scores.

What you should assume is that the overwhelming majority of CFB coaches and fans would be ecstatic if their starting WR and QB had the game ours did. But some people expect perfection. It doesn't take perfection every play and every week to win. As a tram you just have to be better than your opponent. Both of them were, the D wasn't.

Honestly if any position group on the whole team other than QB and WR were playing up to their potential, we wouldn't need perfection out of the QB and WRs. But right now they're not. So we do.

With his size and speed he should be a first round pick, maybe as early as 2018.

Obviously needs to work on his hands and keep progressing in route running.

But at 6'5" if he runs a 4.55 40 he should be a first round pick.
