Didn't Nix and Tuitt say similar things after they left ND? I remember Nix specifically talking about how his diet changed because he learned more about nutrition and was put on a better work regimen. Tuitt reference or blamed the nutritionist for him being out of shape his Jr. year.

AJ Green, Julio Jones, Michael Floyd, and Laquan Treadwell all had singificant season-altering or ending injuries in college. EQ joins an illustrious club.

Nix is full of crap if he said that. He weighed like 350 lbs. The secret to slimming down from that weight is: (1) only eat 3 jelly-filled doughnuts per sitting, (2) don't order more than 2 McDonald's value meals, and (3) switch from eggnog to whole milk. He should have used the Google. I remember seeing Brian Smith at Burger King all the time, often with other players. Subway was literally 20 feet away. If I knew the difference, I can assume they did too.

He and Tuitt were there during the transition to the training table, right? Either way, you'd expect to learn a little something about nutrition from your NFL employer. You might even be more receptive as a 22 year old man!

ESB was a freshman at one of the elite academic and football universities in the country. Unlike home, it is a lot tougher to monitor caloric intake, recovery strategies, stressors both physically and mentally that happen as an athlete. I'm sure the program provides ample opportunities to take in enough calories to maintain weight throughout the season. Daddy the bodybuilder is outside his lane on this in my opinion. There is a tremendous difference between training purely for hypertrophy and aesthetics than athletic development and performance. Has his dad ever been a strength coach for a football team at a division 1 university?

I do wish they would treat every meal as a "training table" meal. I know they would have to offer the same for the regular students but ND can afford it. It's one of the benefits of having a smaller enrollment compared to the big state schools.

I would be curious to see if ND avoids major injuries this year (haha) and finishes strong etc and ESB plays and plays well... would the family suddenly change their tune and shift back towards ND... or has that boat sailed??

No, he'll take credit and say it was because he spoke up and voiced his opinion.

Didn't know what to think of him going into this game, but he certainly stepped up on some big plays. He should be fun to watch.

WATCH: Notre Dame wideout does sick one-handed cartwheel over defender for TD - CBSSports.com

Get to know Equanimeous St. Brown because he's going to ball this fall

by Chip Patterson 5h ago

Notre Dame sophomore wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown is having quite the coming out party in Austin, Texas. Last season ended early for St. Brown because of an injury, but now he's back and taking on a more prominent role in the offense. By halftime of the season opener, Brown had a pair of touchdown receptions, both from quarterback DeShone Kizer.
Kizer led St. Brown on the second score with a perfect pass but it was the 6-foot-5 wide receiver who used his natural athleticism to get the ball into the end zone. St. Brown planted one hand for stability and flipped his way into the end zone with perfect form. Even Simone Biles would approve of this gridiron gymnastics by the Anaheim native.

He is a star in the making for sure. Looking forward to seeing him and Sanders grow together. Hope they both stay the next two years, and can remain healthy the rest of this year.

Guy is a stud. One thing I noticed while at the game is how skinny he is in person.

He'll put on 15lbs of muscle and be unstoppable.

Nobody said he wasn't. I was just pointing out how skinny that guy was.

He's a beast. But 15lbs will do him some good. Has the frame

I'm just talking myself into it, man! :) He could definitely stand to hit the weight room and eat a few pizzas. If he can maintain his speed, quickness, and general athleticism after putting on 15-20 lbs, he could be a menace, for sure.

I bet if THJ starts next game without any set back and plays all year, ESB might still end up being our leading WR. He has the size AND the speed. Really excited about him. Catches the ball very well with his strong hands. I really hope Boykin comes around as well.

Next great ND receiver? He has pretty much answered any receiver questions we had going into the season.

Deceptively fast for his size and very fluid... if we get Hunter back, I think opposing DBs are going to really struggle to cover our receivers.

Yes. There is no Will Fuller playmaker. But the combination of Hunter-Sanders-EQ is a better starting group than last years.
