I remember thinking at the time he was committed to ND that it was weird that he was so highly rated considering he had only played in four games before his junior year of high school, so he didn't have a lot beyond measurables to love as a prospect. Maybe there was something to that gut instinct.

Barnett seems to be one of those kids who peaked early and never progressed much after the age of 18. Great HS QB, but just never got a lot better after that. Lots of 5-star guys don't pan out in college because they've hit their ceiling at 18.
