I believe every decision he has made this off season has in large part been due to thinking the waiver would be approved. Florida is the perfect fit and he could really shine like he did against LSU.. Ball control offense

Florida might have an offense that doesn't make the eyes bleed. Cool

Did not realize Florida plays UM week 1. I hope Zaire goes there and lights them up.

Does Florida stand a chance in this game? I know nothing about the Gators this year. They've been kind of irrelevant to me the past 5 years.

Anything a QB can fix or is the whole offensive unit trash? And reason to hold out hope they beat UM? How is Florida's defense supposed to be? Seems like they have some big time DE's in the last couple of recruiting cycles.

Dublin could probably go more in depth than me, but the whole offense just seems to struggle while I watch. The line might look okay, or they'll be porous, the quarterbacks aren't all that great, and the play-calling seems to be mediocre at best. I'm certainly no expert and my sample size is low, but the Florida offense has held the team back for years, the defense is pretty legit.

they run pro-style offense but don't have a pro-style QB on the roster.
Malik isn't the answer there either.

Defense will always bail them out but offensively they stink and basically don't have the players they need for what they want to do.

How good do you think Michigan will be? Each year is a reload for most teams but doubly so for Michigan this year. They could still be very good but I'd say the Gators definitely have a chance.

This is the best part about the fall, tabula rasa for all!

I think by the end of the season Michigan will be a really good team.

But, replacing all they lost and facing an SEC team the first week I think will be to much for them.

I'm calling Florida to win May 26th, 2017.

Mark it down.

Just like Jarron Jones wouldn't slip past the 3rd round of the draft. Hope you marked that down.

Awaiting SEC Grad Rule Change

Awaiting SEC Grad Rule Change

Report: Malik Zaire chooses Florida

The long wait for a transfer decision from Notre Dame graduate Malik Zaire appears to be nearly over.

A report from Alex Wilcox of WNDU-TV in South Bend quotes sources saying Zaire has chosen Florida and is simply waiting for the SEC to alter its graduate transfer restrictions. The league currently prevents schools that have previously taken graduate transfers who did not hit certain academic benchmarks once transferring from taking further graduate transfers for a period of three years.

Florida is one of the schools currently penalized by that rule, after graduate transfers Mason Halter and Anthony Harrell did not meet the SEC's academic requirements in 2015.

But if the league alters the rule -- and Florida sources feel confident it will -- it could clear the way for Zaire's transfer. The league will review the rule at its spring meetings, which begin on Wednesday.

The Notre Dame graduate would immediately enter into a competition for the starting job with freshman Feleipe Franks, who left the spring with the lead for the job.

If that's where his best shot is to start, I hope he knocks it out of the part and they change the rule. I wish him the best, the LSU game will remain on my DVR until I upgrade hardware.

Best of luck to Malik...it's a shame what his injury did to him at ND, wish we could've seen more of him.

Ever since he snapped his ankle he's just not the same teammate or player. Last year I think some of the locker room was divided as some were for team Malik and some were for team Kizer. The situation was handled so poorly. And it doesn't help that Malik thought he was treated unfairly going back to the whole Showtime thing. Malik is a great kid and is a die hard competitor and I wish him nothing but luck at Florida. Hopefully they can give whoever comes out of the West a challenge.

Hope he does well at Florida but I was hoping for Harvard. He'll do more for Florida than Florida will do for him.

he'll be running for his life all season. Kid just isn't gonna get the time and pocket to make any sort of decent progressions in the passing game.

McElwain's a really good offensive coach, but he hasn't had enough time to correct Florida's offensive issues. Zaire doesn't really help in that regard, since he doesn't fit the system.

I guess we'll see just how smart McElwain is, if he can change his system and get it altered enough to fit Zaire's skill set. I guess it's possible that there is already some Zaire-friendly stuff installed, though, since Franks is their QB coming out of Spring.

I think it will be like EG at FSU where there will be some success, but in the end the play is reminiscent of what was done at ND

he should have gone to Wisconsin really.

Wiscy has an incumbent starter though, even if he is slightly uninspiring. He at least showed flashes that Wisconsin probably needs to commit to. If they bring in Zaire, they risk their QB of the future getting all disgruntled.

Florida can keep Franks satisfied by convincing him that he needs another year of seasoning before he steps in. They aren't taking anything away from him by bringing Zaire in, like Wiscy would be with Hornibrook.

Hornibrook is a Tommy Rees level QB though, it's not like he's a 5 star recruit they are having trouble developing. I wouldn't worry about the kid's feelings TBH

That's easy to say for another team, but ND would've been screwed if they drove Tommy Rees away early in his career lol
