I hope he tears up Michigan
Malik to Florida confirmed.
Former Notre Dame Fighting Irish QB Malik Zaire says he's transferring to Florida Gators
I haven't been following this very closely... What's the academic issue that required the rule change from the SEC?
Is he guaranteed to start there?
I don't think he would choose a school where there's even a doubt.
Is he guaranteed to start there?
No, Gator 247 Mod doesn't think he will beat out Franks who has a tremendous amount of upside. Malik passing the ball is something he's just never going to be good at. He can kill you on the ground though.
From Luke yesterday
He threw some. If yesterday's performance was any indication, UF needs to ride with Franks.
Maybe he's a very dynamic runner, maybe I saw him at his worst, but he threw some bad balls yesterday.
Sounds like nothing has changed. Malik still thinks he got a raw deal last year. Dude you got beat out and weren't better then Kizer and he still hasn't gotten over it. Also separated the locker room last year
Also Luke
I was getting pissed he was stealing reps from the HS prospects. Finally I asked someone who the heck that was after a duck and they told me it was Malik.
I didn't mind Deshaun Watson stealing reps last year, because he throws a pretty ball. Deshone Kizer was enjoyable to watch throw last year, big dude with a big arm. I didn't mind Josh Rosen stealing reps yesterday, because he's got a cannon. Malik looked like a backup on a 4-8 team yesterday to be blunt.
Malik Zaire note
I find it funny he's talking crap about ND quarterbacks, he hasn't seen a good QB since Tebow so how would he even know.
What is your commentary? What is Stampini's? Is any of it attributed to anyone else? This is really hard to follow.
Impact of Malik Zaire to UF?

Look at that, another short and straight-to-the-point question.
It’s a big pickup for Florida. No doubt about it. Given the now eight-year plague of underwhelming quarterback play in Gainesville (save for those six glorious games with Will Grier in 2015), landing a guy who’s shown he can be a dynamic player – albeit in limited doses – is cause for optimism. Go back and watch some highlights from Zaire’s starts in the 2014 Music City Bowl against LSU or the 2015 opener against Texas. He can definitely ignite an offense.
But Gators fans would be wise to try to temper their expectations. On the spectrum of notable grad transfer quarterbacks, this is not Russell Wilson landing at Wisconsin or Vernon Adams at Oregon. Those guys were three-year stars at their former schools who walked into places with a ready-made supporting cast. In fact, it’s no guarantee Zaire will beat out redshirt freshman Feleipe Franks, though Jim McElwain presumably recruited him thinking he will.
The comparison I keep coming back to is Zaire’s former teammate (whom he eventually supplanted), Everett Golson, during his one season at Florida State. By no means did he light the world on fire, but he went 7-1 as starter, completing 67 percent of his passes for 11 touchdowns and three interceptions. He lost his job late in the year after committing three turnovers in one game.
Zaire is a better runner than Golson. I believe he can be a better passer, though it’s been so long, who knows? If he can perform about one level higher, be less of a game manager and more of a weapon, Florida’s offense should be more potent. And remember, this is a team that won the past two SEC East titles largely without that element. What steps forward can the Gators take with him?
I hope McElwain understands that it makes sense to treat ’17 as a transition year. Start Franks, Toney or even Trask so you know what you have, even if what you have isn’t outstanding. The favorable schedule should get the Gators to at least eight wins, likely nine or 10.
Zaire is the safe call with almost no upside, not because of his abilities but because of the defense. Maybe the Gators go 9-3 instead of 8-4, but what does that really accomplish? If McElwain wants to win long-term, he needs to go with somebody already on the roster.
Franks, Toney or Trask can generate wins in ’18, when the Gators can compete for a national championship.
The following rules were established, none of which Zaire would meet:
“No student shall be eligible for a varsity team in more than three different academic years.”
“No student shall be eligible for a varsity team until he has completed satisfactorily an academic year’s work at the institution he is to represent.”
“Only undergraduate students shall be eligible for a varsity team.”
Certainly, those rules have been modified since they were first established. However, Harvard’s student-athlete handbook for this year says: “Harvard rules state that your seasons of competition must be completed within a period of eight semesters (or “terms”) of actual attendance. ... Unlike most Division I schools, the Ivy League does not permit student-athletes to extend their stay at Harvard beyond 8 terms for athletic reasons (i.e. to use one of the 5 seasons solely for a practice opportunity).”
So bad lol.
I especially like the camera flashes for emphasis on the "publicity."
Catchin' some pub' and it didn't cost him a dime --- pretty smart in my opinion.
Malik can use the hype getting started at Florida, so good on him, win the job and show what you can do, kid.
Malik needs to work on his mechanics. The Gator Chomp is done with the right hand on top and is a vertical motion. Gators don't chomp obliquely.
