SLUH maybe the staff is just higher on other kids? Missouri isn't the best state for high school football. Just because he doesn't have an offer doesn't mean its grades. If he was going to be offered it would have already happen. Plus hes a good football player but its not like his offer list wows you.

My guess is grades

- he fits what Diaco wants perfectly: tall but w/ speed and apparently is a leader (6'4 runs a 4.5)

- he felt he was close to an offer on Junior Day, still hasn't gotten one

It's not grades

Just trying to answer Emcee's question that asked bad grades or bad fit and my guess between the two would have been bad grades.

If the staff is higher on other ILBs who are the current options besides Anzalone & Deeb (currently visiting)? Only other one I could think of is the kid that goes to the same school as Michael Hutchings. Deeb is an FSU lean per 247.

I wouldn't mind taking 1 ILB this class and have it be Anzalone.

not to gum up Eric's thread but why do FSU people think this besides the fact they think every FL recruit is their's and his sister goes there....I read some where he was a UM lean but they had not offered him yet. Anyways I hope we have a shot at him, him and Anzalone (God willing) would be a disgusting duo at MLB!

As u can probably now see I was incorrect the first time and checked then edited it.

A A&M writer said he almost committed to FSU

That was 7 days ago, we will have to see how his visit goes

Not to give you too much of a hard time... but this is the kind of stuff that gives ND fans a bad name. This is why other fan bases make the "must be grades" joke about us that wooly referred to in the Kimbrough thread.

There are tons of plausible answers here besides "grades" and absolutely zero evidence of any academic issue. The most plausible is the staff likes other prospects more than Biesel who is basically a consensus 3:s: who plays mediocre competition and doesn't have an elite offer list. He very well may earn an offer... most likely if we miss on Anzalone and other prospects. It's quite an imposition on the prospect to suggest academic issues without better rationale than you gave. There are plenty of real examples of academic issues (Perkins, Kimbrough, Byron Marshall, Anthony Standifer, etc. etc.) that lose legitimacy and start to sound like sour grapes when "must be grades" starts getting thrown around on every prospect without an offer.

As I answered above, I was responding to bad fit or bad grades. Of the two I would say he is a good fit so my guess would be grades.

More likely and IMO and yours and GBs he does in fact play weak competition ( I would know) and only as a average offer list for a Midwest prospect. Also one thing that I believe Deeb is praised for that could be a knock on Biesel is lateral agility.

I wouldnt expect a Rockwod Summit kid to have academics problems anyways.

As I also said above I only expect us to take 1 ILB and for that one to be Anzalone. We will likely have 2 seniors , a junior, and a sophmore as it is, we also seem to be looking at a lot of '14 ILBs early.

BTW I got mad props for you as a debator (sp?) Lax, best one on here

Well, that's my bad, SLU. You were just answering my question. When I saw Deeb get his offer I just wondered why him and not Biesel, as they seemed like comparable players to me, and I keep hearing good things about Biesel. Of course, the staff will certainly be able to see important differences between Deeb and Biesel that I am just not sensitive to. Now that you mention lateral agility, I suppose I could see that.

I didn't mean to imply that our passing on Biesel necessarily had to be based on either bad grades or bad fit in our system though. Those are just possible explanations that came to mind because they get thrown around a lot (e.g. Kimbrough) and all I intended to do was ask what people had heard. Obviously there are a lot of factors that go into the decision to make an offer to a kid, and there could be any number of reasons the staff hasn't. If we don't fill up, I'm hopeful Biesel will get one though. He seems like a promising player to me.

One of the very best college towns around is Columbia... I used to think it was an SEC town in the middle of the Big 12...

now?....

Wish this young man the best.

No tears for us though; our linebacker verbals are probably the best set in the country.
