Another resident UM fan? Good luck surviving here. haha Pretty good first post though.

I promise I will try not to be a douchebag. :smilewink

Just reading through the thread, wanted to clear a few things up. Smith is really the only RB we have in this class, and I know the coaches are trying to get another one because they just had Derrick Green (4* on Scout and Rivals, from Virginia) visit on Sunday and told him they want him and are taking another back.

Wyatt Shallman was told he was going to play RB because they wanted him to commit early and they had to keep him away from Ohio State IMO. He was seriously flirting with Meyer for awhile there.

No one at 255lbs plays RB except the Fridge.

Good stuff. Thanks for the info.

Isaac tweet:

palm trees

i'm guessing he's in USC now.

.....you don't need to have palm trees in your life everyday...that's what vacations are for ;)

USC is a real threat here. They have the palm trees and the insanely hot girls and the weather of course (LOL - it's actually 10-15 degrees colder here than in SB), but they also have a real need at the RB spot. As of a couple days ago, they onlyhad 3 scholarship running backs on the roster: one who is tiny and there are questions about his durability (he's a stud though), one who had major knee surgery 2 years ago, and one has never played a down and has a hamstring injury (of course, they just moved a LB over to RB and he's been tearing it up these past 2 practices and looks like a natural. We'll see when he gets hit if he can hold onto the ball though).

Add to that, a pro-style offense, an offense putting up major numbers, and a program ranked in the top 3 in every poll, and you have a very attractive option for Ty. Hopefully he'll see past all that and look at some of the other things surrounding the program and won't commit there. But it's a real option for him...

I had thought I had heard that Nelson Ag's was slated to RB. Any word on that?

He's not on campus yet, but from what I've been reading they want him as a wideout but they'll line him up in the backfield as well. But pretty much he'll be a WR, unless the numbers dictate otherwise (and they very well could).

yup, NDinLA is right. Nelson isn't on campus to see what he can do, but the coaches did say he'd be a WR with the possibility of playing some RB.

He gone

But in all seriousness, this doesn't matter. It's not like the kid is going to wear an ND or Mich t-shirt to a USC scrimmage. Pretty casual non-news here. Nothing to see.

USC 247 mod thinks they made a big time impression on him and thinks they are now a serious player.

I'd love to have the kid at ND but USC has a prime oppurtunity for him. I'd look to sign Green/Elliott up and be cool with it.

Yeah I'm ok with missing out on Ty if ND gets a variation of Green/Bryant/Elliott. The thing that just sucks is that Ty is a big time talent and it sounds like if he ain't playing for ND he will be playing against them for the next 4-5 years.

Just me personally but I would rather him go to USC then Michigan.

I agree on both ends here. It sucks to have to play against him for four years but I'd rather him be at USC.

6'3" is pretty tall for a RB, no? Have there been any discussions about him perhaps growing into a WR body? I think AP is the tallest RB I can think of off the top of my head and he's 6' even I believe

Arian Foster is who I always think of when I see Ty. Arian is 6'1" maybe 6'2".

Ty can play WR on occasion, but he's just a monster at RB to not have him there.

That is unless Ty grows a couple inches. Then he'd be almost forced to move and even then, I think he may be more suited for TE. Kid as a big frame like Arian or...

Brandon Jacobs?

Yea!

Adrian is 6'1, but there have been several good NFL runningbacks over 6'1. Eddie George, Chris Warren, Darren McFadden, Stephen Jackson, Brandon Jacobs (not now) to name a few.
