I didn't watch his highlights but he was on ESPNU early in the season. He looked like a great fit for our offense. He wasn't a burner but was deceptively fast.

Let's not kid ourselves... no he isn't a 4.2 guy but the kid is fast you can tell just by the separation he keeps between him and defenders in open field. He appears to be a short strider or power strider, short choppy steps when running. If he hooked up with a track coach and did some Sprinter drills he could open up his stride and get a second gear...

The great backs run with power strides through garbage and open up stride in open space. Just my two cents....

I think a year under his belt at any major university like Notre Dame will help with his running and cutting. Everyone's on here downplaying his speed, our we forgetting he's playing other athletes from Florida, the same state known to develop the fastest guys in college and then into the NFL. Yeah he's not separating himself by 20 yards on every run, but I'm sure with him playing both ways and getting the ball handed off to him 30-40 times, the kid is probably going to be burnt out a little bit and need to conserve some of his energy. Finally, even if he doesn't have that 'Elite Speed' like many posts above, his other attributes more than make up for it. He'll be a very solid recruit, lets not forget who our RB coach is and the type of job he did on Theo this year. For the early part of the season I cringed when I saw Theo come in, I thought Wood was such a better back with his elite speed and his shiftiness. Well the way the season played out, I wish Theo would have gotten even more touches than he did early on. I think it just shows the type of development from one year to the next this team can have, and Theo is the perfect example.

The kid is a stud and there's a reason why he's the composite #10 RB in the country for this class. Don't let allgator's backhanded analysis derail this thread.

By composite comparison (he's .9418), Folston would be the 6th best player in this class. Yeah, the class that currently ranks in the top 5.

I thought Keivarae Russell looked A LOT slower in his senior tape than Folston did in his tape. So slow that I was almost worried what they would do with Russell. Then I saw him actually play and when he hawked down Ray Graham from behind all of my worries went away. Speed is way overrated these days.

Folston is going to be a stud wherever he goes

Excelent points!

People (some) lie about forty speed. Conditions mean everything.

Playing speed cannot be lied about, and conditions are set mentally and physically.

I've thought the same thing! I was not a big KR fan for all of the above reasons. The kid can flat play.

Good lord in that video he was running around guys like they were standing still. And then he broke away for myriad long touchdowns; I'm not saying he's GAIII or anything but there's plenty of speed there. If the SEC schools don't want him that's their loss. He's a freaking Theo Riddick clone. I certainly see why BK wants him.

Fwiw Gio Bernard was around the same size coming out of HS and he runs around a 4.55.

Regardless of his posted 40 time, the consensus here is that he has plenty of speed, coupled with his other attributes, to make him a highly-desirable prospect. Let's hope to see "ND Verbal" by his name real soon.

If Kelly and Co. want him with only a few spots left in the cycle while we are in play with some big guys and would have no problem filling up the class with 4 :s: guys I think he really has something to offer. He certainly impresses the staff, and thats all I need for me to want him.

Based on what I have read, TF has some of the craziest hands out there too. He'll be the perfect hybrid back. A lot of people compared Bryant to Theo, but IMO, Folston is by far closest to Theo. Bryant will take us to new levels when it comes to power running. Not sure how his hands are, but honestly I like his power so much I don't care about his ability to catch.

JC Shurburtt of 247 was on Bill King's radio show on Thursday and said Folston is a slightly more physical Theo Riddick.
