The Businessweek ranking is excellent, and very helpful to ND (except when recruiting against Stanford) but I still worry it's a little too hard to comprehend for many recruits. A lot of top FBS schools are pretty far down the ranking (as in 10-15 pages back), which makes them hard to find unless you're really dedicated. The methodology is also not a great fit for football players; for instance, it uses the graduation rate for the entire undergrad population instead of the football program, and it discounts the figures by the total cost to graduate, which football players don't pay (which is why I made the spreadsheet to begin with).
I'm not sure how to go about making the spreadsheet more "official-looking". I was hoping ND would do that for me, but I haven't heard or seen anything about it since I sent it up the chain. I'd like to make a site dedicated to the sorts of things football recruits should consider before committing to a school (not just the spreadsheet, but the % of D1 players that get drafted, the average duration of a NFL career, average return for playing in the NFL, etc.) but I don't have the web design chops to do it. Any suggestions?
Furthermore, I know many of our posters do tweet/ message frequently with recruits. I'm happy to create a modified version of the spreadsheet (with racial data retracted, etc.) upon request if any of you think it would be helpful.
