I've been a fan long enough to remember when everyone was saying Louis Nix was going to transfer as well. I don't believe it until it comes from someone who matters.

Jimmymac matters. He definitely has connections to players on the team.

Because all of the guys who play for Alabama are team-first guys?

no of course not, no team anywhere is 100% team first.

but when yo become a part of an established program that wins 11 games a year and sends players to the league regularly selfish behavior gets weeded out quick (also no classes and $$)

my comment was to the list of players i quoted. i did not intend to call bryant a cancer or selfish but let's not act like this isn't a me decision and anyone that is part of a team that doesnt want to be isn't good for the team. cancer or not.

He knows what would happen. They wouldn't know all of their requisite assignments / playcalls. That's obvious. Folston acknowledged that, Redfield acknowledged that. If you don't think those guys are going to see the field more once they get the mental stuff down, then I don't know what to tell you.

Honest question - have you been on a competitive team sport's team? How could you ever justify playing a kid who doesn't know all of his responsibilities over guys who have put in the work and know exactly what they should be doing, and still expect to have the locker room (specifically the veterans). That is just hindering the whole team's chance at optimal efficiency while undermining and alienating the veterans on your team.

If we played a different type of offense, or had a different QB, or if GB picked up the playbook as quick as Zaire and Jaylon reportedly did, things would probably be different. But none of that is the reality, thus we have to deal in the reality.

Becomes much harder to question him here given how successful other freshman have been, and how much trust he obviously puts in them. Jaylon starting from day 1 and being extremely successful. Steve Elmer being subbed in for Christian Lombard to man up on the best DL we will play all year. Running plays at important aspects of close games to two true freshman receivers. Running behind another true freshman receiver when a TD was needed in the redzone. Starting a true freshman as your nickel back and 3rd corner over Lo Wood.

Wayy to many examples of him trusting freshman in key spots after they evidently earned it and it working out to really question his judgement on others, IMO.

Bravo. Couldn't agree more. It's just silly to argue that Kelly should have played the freshmen over the guys who earned their PT in practice. That's just no way to run a program. You'll never get the team to trust the coaching staff that way; when they see that the guys who do the right things in practice aren't playing, they'll tell themselves that it obviously doesn't matter how you practice and prepare ... and then we are undisciplined and ineffective on gameday (basically, USC the last two years).

i used to get upset when we lost and have it ruin my weekend or get pissed when a player transfer, gets caught cheating or decommits....but i have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with any of it so why would i get pissed? then i felt like an idiot for ever acting that way and it sure makes loses and these kinds of things easier....i truly believe everything happens for a reason and if in fact he leaves, i have full faith that another player steps up or is given a chance to. ROOT ROOT for anyone that wants, leaves everything on the field for the team i cheer for

Wait--what?

BK stated that Elmer came in for Lombard at RG during the TD drive that ended in TJ Jones' catch because he wanted a bigger body on Will Sutton. You can see clearly on the replay of that TD Elmer is in there pushing an ASU DL (I assume Sutton) from right to left in front of Tommy as he releases the ball.

To be honest, if he wouldn't come here without the promise of seeing the field, then saw the field and wasn't effective as 3-4 other RB's (including another frosh). Then oh well. That's the game if that is the only reason he came here.

If he leaves, this honestly doesn't bug me that much. He's not a kid that is willing to change positions (ala Russell), he's not a kid that is willing to learn and wait for his opportunity (ala Jonas Gray) and simply not getting his responsibilities early enough to make an impact on the team yet (ala Jaylon).

There are kids like this in every class. Sometimes they become breakout freshman, but most the time they transfer and disappear into the college football abyss. If frosh playing time is reason enough for him to transfer, then that is one more spot we can fill in this class with a guy that wants to be here. I don't blame Kelly for letting him come here and fight for a spot, and if failing at that as a frosh makes him want to transfer, then I don't blame Kelly for showing him how to find the door on his way out of the gug.

There have been rumblings about this among the students for weeks. People in his dorm have told me he's openly said "shoulda gone somewhere else." It's only a matter of time before he finally pulls the trigger.

Don't blame him. He would've been playing already if he went to another school. He has more potential than our other running backs. Don't understand why they won't give him more touches. Just like not playing Malik when Rees, who is not only a mediocre QB, but will be leaving next year. Don't understand how the coaching staff thinks. But another very good recruit might be leaving again.

If this is true, I can see being left home for the ASU game as a tipping point. You don't even get to experience Dallas stadium or anything that goes along with the trip. You get to watch from your dorm room.

What exactly has kept this kid from seeing the field more, a lack of understanding of the system, attitude, work ethic, Kelly having a hard on for some players and playing mind games with him? Anyone have a clue?

Thank God you are not our coach. Lets just play all of the freshmen even if they are not the best person to help us win. :banghead2

Sigh. If he had earned the touches, he would have gotten them. Does it seriously tell you nothing that the coaching staff has given Folston carries but not Bryant? And maybe part of the reason is that his knee injury is legit. (Though now, it seems like this is probably more of a cover up)

As for Zaire, Kelly has openly said that he could run about 25% of the offense... that would be more crippling than a non-mobile Tommy Rees. Also, maybe missing extensive time with mono had something to do with it as well.

At one point Kelly said that the freshman RBs had learned a few specific plays that would be used situationally and that we just haven't been able to run the plays. But then again that just could have been words to a reporter to avoid any further discussion

Purely speculation based on his decision to transfer after half a season but I'd wager an entitlement mentality and unwillingness to do the work and wait his turn.
