Rumored...to have been out drinking and was late...that's what I got from someone...not sure if meeting or curfew but would go along with the watch thing

I agree. It is BK's best interest for BK to win this game. He wouldn't send Max packing without good reason. There is something(s) to this story that none us know and maybe never will.

We can only speculate if Urban would have taken the same action without knowing what happened. But it is fair to say he would have had much more leniency.
Urban would've tucked him in and read a bed time story.

...

... or arranged for Washington to find a Plus 2 to get the wandering safety between the covers before lights out. So many ways to motivate ... even without gold pants.

Baratti has good speed and instincts, so don't dis him. The problem that I see with him is that he is fragile, and I am not convinced that he wants to lay the hits out there like a safety must. He can probably be a get-by fill-in if we need that.

.... again, only an observation-opinion based on what we have seen with Nicki over the years, and others doubtless know better about his health and psyche.

Young guys doing young guy stuff I guess. Hope he learns something from this.

Holtz had to send folks home a couple times, and I don't think he got hurt for doing it...hoping the same for BK here. Tough to do the right thing sometimes, but it has got to be done.

Come on Max...get right son.

Max's Twitter account is restricted, so I can't embed it here, but he just tweeted the following:

Sounds like a curfew violation to me.

Who has an alarm set on there watch? I don't think it was curfew, don't think you send a player home because of it either. Have him miss a series or quarter.

Nov. 26, 1988; Lou Holtz sends his leading receiver (Ricky Watters) and leading rusher (Tony Brooks) home, just 5.5 hours before #1 ND squared off against #2 USC. Both of them were sent home for missing curfew the night before.

As was previously stated: Doing the right thing is not always easy, but it IS the thing to do.

I may be wrong but I thought it was for being late for the team dinner?

It was and it wasn't their first tardy infraction. They had a history. They pushed the envelope and it pushed back. Lou established clearly who is the Alpha dog and the players even stars comply with team rules or "suspend themselves" in Lou's words.

Damn. My mom just made me go to my room without dinner. And two hours later -- when I learned my lesson -- she'd bring me a sandwich. Lou didn't play!

This is what I heard as well. Was out clubbing well past curfew. Sad thing is, BK had a very acceptable curfew time.

It's unfortunate. And good of Max to be a stand-up guy about it. But, damn son, use the word punctual correctly. Had you been punctual, you'd be playing on Friday no problem.

I can't read it, too small. Will take your word.

Still a dumb ass decision. So what I don't understand is he is in AZ with his team, yet he is the only one coming back late from the club? Was he not out with other teammates or what? He must have pulled a piece of ass and strayed away from the pack...my best guess.

Why drink at all a few days before a major bowl and a big audition for the country? I can't fathom tearing my body down at all during a season.

Maybe that's the margin of error for some of these elite athletes, they don't realize how much better they could be if they simply rested their body and fed it adequately.

Alcohol is absolutely terrible for a professional/college athlete (and of course, I'm not talking about a single beer or glass of wine).

Possibly the difference between a "5 star" player being passed over by "lesser" talent.

We wouldn't be Notre Dame without this type of stuff. If it isn't our starting QB getting kicked out of school, our best basketball player getting kicked out of school, one of our best defensive player missing class and getting suspended causing Kona losing his redshirt year, our best WR getting kicked out of school, or major injury after major injury. Now we lose another starter to major injury and our starting safety kicked out.

I know it happens other places, but man sure seems to happen to us often. Drama.

I hope we can overcome all of these injuries and suspension. Our defense already sucked big time against an inferior offense in Stanford. I hope we can rise to the occasion. Baylor just did without the best WR in the country, love Fuller but Coleman was sick, starting 1200 yard back, stud starting QB, 2nd string QB, and starting Right Tackle. All against the 10th ranked team.

Baylor rose, now we need too as well.

Go Irish

I'll throw this out there.

When you allow young men to be out till 2am on their own in a town that is known for getting buck wild, you are inviting this. I know young men are responsible for their actions but I can tell you this, 2am in Scottsdale was obviously a mistake.Bummer.

I'll be at the team's resort for the next 3 nights so I'll make sure these shenanigans come to an end.

On second thought, maybe Whiskey can do it... I'm gettin' lit!

Happy New Years to all and I'll see ya next year! Go Irish!
