that's what i thought the tweet said, but when i finished reading the whole headline before being completely shocked by Bama's name in it...i then realized what GITF and Lax have posted...
No, his decommitment makes it possible for 'Bama to surpass USC for #1 class.

The academics as well. Oregon is not even close to ND.

Oregon fans keep refuting this by saying that they have the best sport marketing program in the country. If Max wants to major in that then fine, but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.

That statement usually comes from someone much older. This young man shows a great amount of maturity for someone his age. I think his choice of words also bodes well for us.

Max if you commit right now, I promise you, you won't regret it.

True, they milk that for all it's worth. Isn't that how they got Arik Armstead?

But come on, Max ... Oregon's defense is crappy. Right now if you are a defensive recruit, there's nowhere else but Notre Dame.

It's funny to me how quickly things can change. Last year if we would have played like this and won the SC game or even the first 2 games we would have had a great shot at Armstead(which we did anyway) Shaq Thompson and a few other studs. Things are definitely on the up and up! Redfield and Luke could be a very solid start to future DB recruiting!

Curious hypothetical. I am sure Nike recruits from Oregon (and could be the reason for a strong sports marketing). How would the NCAA look at a situation where Nike is hiring a large amount of former athletes from Oregon? Obviously that would be quite the recruiting pitch.

Max is going to visit Oregon and Washington, correct? Anywhere else that we know of?

Anyone know if he is now waiting until NSD to commit? Could play heavily in our favor. Chip Kelly looks very likely to bolt to the NFL after this year. Couldn't see Max heading to Eugene with a new coach. Just a thought.

Basically says that we are contenders but he thinks that Oregon is the team that fascinates Redfield and is where he is leaning. Also states that is why he decommited was to visit oregon not because he really liked ND. The article was written by Adam Gorney the West coast recruiting coordinator for rivals.

Man that would suck if we got all excited about him and he ended up at Oregon. What a let down. Hopefully Gorney is off a bit on this one.

He could as right as Farrell was about Anzalone going to Florida.

He's right and he's wrong. Redfield is definitely interested in Oregon and it wouldn't surprise me if he ended up there, but this guy is downplaying ND's chances significantly. USC's Rivals recruitnik was saying right after the ND visit how much that affected Redfield (as opposed to Hawkins who loved the visit but was predicted to be all USC once the shine wore off the visit, which turned out to be true) and how ND was a real player here, and he's been hearing the exact same things ever since.

So to think Redfield isn't into ND is ridiculous...

Bear in mind that is feed back from one article and one man's opinion. Like LA said there have been numerous others that have said he'll take visits to know its right for him but we are the leaders. In fact keep in mind that he text the guys at rivals and 247 that we are the leaders with everybody behind us.

IMO we have a 50/50 shot if not better. I'll take that.

I have a hard time believing any recruit could truly be 50/50 between UO and ND. Beyond the success both programs are experiencing right now, they're basically polar opposites.

Max is visiting Washington this weekend IMO we will see how much he truly likes ND on Monday.

That has to help us, Washington playing Utah in a half empty stadium can't be a great sell.

All Notre Dame needs to do is hold off the Oregon rush. Oregon is a true player

Who was the last recruit that we wanted fairly bad and lost to Oregon? Was it Christian French?

Speaking of Armstead, I think I saw that he had a couple offensive carries for Oregon in one of their box scores. What position do they have him playing?

He's already been a stud for Oregon, I'm with you on that one being painful. It's only been garbage time, but he's already shown that he will be the next big thing at Oregon.
