I don't know what's going on in this case but didn't she describe the attacker as 5'9'' to 5'11''? That ain't Jameis Winston ...

Just doesn't pass the smell test.

My theory..........Saban saw FSU's headlights approaching fast in the rear view mirror. Remembered this from last year and made a few phones to the authorities voicing his outrage that nothing was ever done. He figured this should be enough to get them off focus to where they won't be as big a threat for the NC.

Something about this whole affair is fishy. After reading that, I don't think it's either Winston OR the young lady involved in this case. Wouldn't be surprised to see some higher-ups at FSU go down hard once this wraps up.

I'm sorry, this will come off rude...but any woman that is raped and then doesn't press charges is just ridiculous and kills the credibility of those women that do. I know there is a certain amount of fear there, but you can't just sit back on this and then come forth once he gets famous and have people sympathize with you.

And there are so many strange things about this...Ugg....

IF everything in it was true.....MAJOR cover up w/ university

Yea, this **** happens all the time. A lot of these kids are above the law while they are playing. It's not right, but it goes with the importance of college football and the values of our society.

That said, I really don't know anything about that particular story. Innocent until proven guilty I guess.

You said it.

She is not going after some random dude. The guy has god status in the Florida State community. She is right to have a lot of fear. Imagine all the angry idiots that will come after her. She will enter a **** storm.

I can understand the fear argument--who knows what is going on in your head after something like that--but he was not a god last year. He was just a member of the football team with a lot of potential. That is still a big deal, but not the same.

If that was her concern, it sucks for her that it came out at the absolute peak of his fame, when they first hit #2.

I hope its not true. I'd rather live in a world with a distrubed woman than another rapist.

That would be true if he was even a speck in the nations eye at that time.

I see what you mean, but if he was guilty of the crime, the public will ALWAYS side with her.

In a perfect world where only decent people are out there.

Unfortunately, it depends on where your interest lies. It is pretty apparent from that letter that she contacted with law officials that are pretty rooted with the FSU program and understands the negative effect of having a rape charge linked to the program. A lot of programs have local police in the fold. Look at Florida under Urban. They had so many arrest, they probably had a mug shot wall of fame lol. They got away with so much stuff it's ridiculous. I'm sure there are plenty more that we haven't heard about...

Obviously the more public this case goes, the harder it becomes to cover up. I don't want to make any assumptions either. It's a twisted world. Anything could be possible here.

I've heard that Tallahassee police, like South Bend police, are not lenient on football players.

Gainesville police, on the other hand, are notoriously lax.

What are the odds he makes it all the way to the championship game before he is arrested? If I remember my law correctly, a DNA match + other circumstantial evidence is enough to warrant an arrest in most states.

dont mean to sound naive here but how does this affect the university if any?

It doesn't unless there was a cover-up. If there was a cover-up you could see PSU-like sanctions. Probably not as severe, but they would get punished big time.

It probably doesn't (and shouldn't) unless there was some explicit cover-up, which in a case like this one there really doesn't need to be. Someone in police or prosecutor's office could easily have just decided this was a borderline case not worth the massive shitstorm. Now that shitstorm's coming either way, though.

Going on the results of last year's Heisman vote he should be a lock for the award. The worse your character, the better your chances.

Report: Jameis Winston DNA matches accuser's sample in test - CBSSports.com

By Jerry Hinnen CBSSports
11/21/13

A DNA sample provided by Jameis Winston to law enforcement matches DNA found in the underwear of the accuser in Winston's sexual assault investigation, ESPN reported late Wednesday.
Florida Law Enforcement performed an analysis of the DNA provided to police as part of a sexual assault kit Dec. 7, 2012, by the woman who has accused the Florida State quarterback of assaulting her. The results, confirmed Tuesday according to ESPN's report, show a one-in-2.2 trillion chance that the DNA obtained from the kit belongs to someone other than Winston.

The DNA finding is not proof of Winston's guilt in the case. But it will indicate that Winston and his accuser were in close contact on the night of the alleged incident.

Winston is not expected to speak with the state attorney investigating the case. He has not been arrested and has been charged with no crime. His attorney has denied any wrongdoing on Winston's part.

An assistant state attorney told CBSSports.com on Wednesday she has been in touch with the complainant and is making plans to interview her as the investigation continues.

I hope this is a case where it was consensual and she is just trying to get him in trouble. That would suck for him because of the bad image it would portray of him.

But if this isn't the case i hope he gets the right punishment for the crime.

What are they going to do if this isn't settled by the time the Heisman votes need to be counted? Are they really going to give the award to a dude that very well may be convicted of rape shortly after?

Remember this?
'Johnny Manziel disease' talk OK, good lesson for Jameis Winston, says Jimbo Fisher - ESPN
Jameis Winston made headlines this week, claiming he hoped to avoid "Manziel disease," a reference to the off-field issues surrounding Heisman winner Johnny Manziel, and in the process the Florida State quarterback got a firsthand lesson on how tough media scrutiny can be.
.....
Winston was the star of Florida State's annual fall media day session Sunday, entertaining a throng of reporters with a few quick-witted barbs and witticisms. When the topic turned to Manziel, Winston said he hoped to avoid the same public scrutiny the Texas A&M quarterback.
"If I get Manziel disease, I want every one of you all to get your mikes and start slapping me on the head," Winston joked.

Either way, Manziel is probably the #2 behind Winston at this point, so the chances of someone winning with checkered off the field issues is likely. The criteria for a Heisman winner to show "the pursuit of excellence with integrity" is quickly deteriorating given recent award winners Bush, Newton, and Manziel.
