FSU.. ugh. if the SEC has potentially prohibitive rules (for EG to transfer), I guess it's a good situation for him. EG would be a give FSU a nice transition to Deondre Francois

Selfishly, considering my feelings towards FSU, I would really really hate this as I'd like to be happy for Golson as he succeeds at this next school. However, its a great situation for him.

If this FSU thing happens. He owes us at least the knowledge from the the other players on how surprised they were too by that bogus call last Oct. Some inside stuff from Fisher after next year would be the cherry.

I hate this as well. I think one thing will surprise him: the offensive line won't be nearly as good as he's had while in South Bend. But he'll have plenty of dangerous receivers.

May as well run go routes with his arm strength.

It would also reduce the number of batted passes

Forget the offensive line being weak....look at that FSU schedule....texas state /boston college/ Syracuse/ wake forest/ south florida/ chatanooga----wow

I hate fsu , but I like golson---if he goes there he will simply tear it up and it will be very hard to take watching it i'm afraid.

He always reminded me of Charlie Ward coming out of HS so FSU would be an interesting landing spot.

Not sure if it's been mentioned before but he signed scholarship paperwork for the upcoming year. When he did that, he gave up his right to go wherever he wanted.

He could have not signed that paperwork before spring ball but he was not sure if he was going to graduate. Of course this would have thrown up red flags and CBK would have run a different spring. Even worse, if he did not graduate he could have been up the river without a paddle.

EG played the best hand for him...which was showing signs like you're coming back but leaving when it was possible.

It's now CBK responsibility to play the best hand for the team...which is to not let EG go to a school that plays ND.

This was the part I didn't know. Thanks.

Good chance that he'll have Matt Hegarty snapping it to him, no? If we send them two starters the least they could do is send us back Dalvin Cook.

Notre Dame won't block any of the 10 Power Five conference schools included on a list of potential transfer destinations provided by ex-quarterback Everett Golson, according to ESPN's Brett McMurphy.

McMurphy reported Florida State, Alabama, South Carolina and at least one Pac-12 school were included on Golson's list.

Golson informed Irish head coach Brian Kelly Thursday morning of his intention to transfer. Notre Dame would have blocked a requested release to Texas and certain Big 10 schools, FoxSports.com's Bruce Feldman reported Sunday evening.

Florida State is the frontrunner to land Golson, Ryan Bartow of 247Sports reported Monday afternoon.

Potential SEC destinations for the Myrtle Beach, S.C native include LSU, South Carolina, Florida and Georgia, although no reports have been confirmed by Golson who has remained mum aside from one brief statement.

Hearing this is an accurate statement.

Agree. He would actually require two waivers - one due to his disciplinary actions he received while at ND and the other because he only has one year of eligibility left. No way he gets two waivers.

He would be a solid QB at FSU since they won't ask him to run or run the spread. He will be fine in their offense and put up pretty good numbers. He just has to keep the fumbling down.

I could cheer him on at almost any SEC school. Not sure I can cheer for him at FSU.

Woah woah woah I agree he doesn't have the classic physical traits, and I don't know if the NFL is going to be a successful place for him in the end, but you don't think he'll even get drafted? Like not even in the later rounds? I'd be shocked if a team doesn't pick him up by the 5th round. QBs are just too much of a commodity.

I hope he proves me wrong, but maybe a 6th or 7th round at best. I think his height is going to hurt him, he hasn't played under center and he's not the best at going through his progressions. NFL teams will also dig deep to learn about his is leadership qualities.

I called FSU the day he made his announcement. See, even a blind squirrel gets lucky once in a while.

It'd be sorta weird to see two starters from Notre Dame transfer to a national powerhouse because they were beat out by underclassmen. It says something about the talent level in South Bend right now.

I'm not really worried about where he goes. Whatever, good luck to him. It will sting a bit though if he lights it up and stops turning it over every other possession.

Notre Dame will return 9 of 11 starters on offense from and two former starters might be at FSU. And that's the least experienced side of the ball, the defense could return 14 starters who were never beaten out. I know that's never been done before.... 23 former starters back and 2 former starters playing for another team.

Crazy. They have win double digits next year regardless of what happens... right?

I listened to both II and ISD podcasts recently. ISD said EG was telling everyone that he was staying. Mike said he was shocked by the news. But the more he talked about it, you could tell that maybe he wasn't as shocked as originally stated. I think it was him who mentioned that someone on the team probably tipped off BK that EG was leaving. Mike and Christian both seemed to think that EG's mind was made up as soon as those rumors surfaced about EG and LSU post bowl game. They spoke about the circumstance of him not having a place lined up when he made the announcement. The whole "get the new job before leaving the old job" scenario. EG basically got his diploma and then bounced...and in the process of waiting, made everyone believe he was staying. I mean, everyone was reporting that EG was ahead of MZ all spring and would probably get the nod as starter. He stole Malik's reps. He stole Kizer's reps. Yet he had no intention of staying.

Irish Illustrated seemed a lot less shocked and a lot less concerned. They basically said it's always been something with EG. And it's a testament to his character and his relationship with BK...or lack thereof. He will be missed (as a passer) but everyone has full confidence in the offense and in Malik.

There was a lot said, so I know I didn't type it all. But I just wanted to make a quick post regarding the podcasts and this situation. And for the record, they all seem to think FSU is the likely landing spot and no one believes he's a NFL-caliber QB.
