The academic piece was a factor, too. When he graduates from Notre Dame, he said wants to be able to say all of his credits were earned at Notre Dame

I'm impressed.

Saw a piece on Whitfield on ESPN the other day. It was pretty awesome. He said "I may not have the wingspan of Clowny, but I can put tennis racquets in my hands and become him." This is the kind of creativity he brings. Oh, and he makes them practice 3, 5 and 7 step drops in the surf on the beach. Anyone who has ever run in the surf can tell you how freaking hard that is. EG will come out a much better QB from this.

always love hearing about innovation like this reminds me of Mike Leach and how he would fire hundreds of tennis balls from a machine at his receivers every day until their hand eye coordination improved lol

Just look at what Chip Kelly is doing with the eagles, he has PR team catching balls while holding tennis balls, interns wearing contraptions during passing drills to simulate linemen and DL trying to bat down balls. It's fascinating.

I have to admit that I've been pretty "meh" on EG over the years... but this excites me. Both from a person and skill perspective. Fundamental example of making a bad situation good, learning from your mistake, sticking with the commitment you made, and coming back better for it all.

Hate to say it, but his mistake may be the best thing that has happened him, and could be a great thing in the end for ND FB performance. Great kid. Very impressed.

While they were locked in storage sheds or outside of them?

I am unabashedely team Golson. He has been the most talented qb Kelly has had play for him. Even with a simplified offense last year he still did a great job. He may have had to be pulled for two games, but he brought a new dimension to this offense. He may be short but so is drew brees and Johnny Manziel. As much as Tommy will be adequate to an asset this year, Golson would have made this team so much better and more fun to watch.

hoping his parents didnt get a loan based on everrett making it to nfl.

not that it isnt possible but the odds are also that nfl careers are short and not that profitable.

i am glad to hear he wants all his credits from nd. i believe we had a gentlemen(troll?) that said everrett should "save his time and transfer because he couldnt cut it at nd" or something similar. i hope he proves something to himself and to folks like above in the end nfl, or cfb success be damned.

I read recently that Whitfield charges $100/hr. Doesn't matter if you're a NFL or peewee player, the price is the same. I also read a lot of the college guys will defer payments until they go pro.

Good for him he learned a lesson. However if this happened any where else 90% of this board would be flipping out that he is coning back.

Why? At other schools they don't even suspend kids for cheating on tests.

When was the last time you saw an SEC kid get suspended for cheating?

I don't think so; it seems that EG was treated as pretty much any other student would be in this scenario. Don't really see anything worth flipping out over...

I agree with Wooly. I am proud of ND for doing this. If this was another school they would have passed him either way. He is going through his punishment like Tommy but he will be back and better.

Wasn't BK pushing to be more in the loop on the student side of things. Maybe this situarion is what he was referring too.

Aside from BYU and the service academies where else would he have been suspended from school?

This was an academic issue handled by the university and not the football coach. The board flips out when coaches at schools act as the Dean of Students or the Chief of The Campus Police.

This time of year has to be his slow period though, right? All his pupils are practicing with their teams. That's probably why Everett is just starting right now even though he hasn't hasn't had much else to do the past few months.

Loy spoke with a source who has had recent contact with Golson.

Whitfield has been really impressed with Golson's arm velocity. Among the best of the QBs he has worked with recently.

Whitfield thought Golson's footwork needed a ton of work and they've worked hard on cleaning it up.

They've also been tweaking his throwing motion to make it more compact and they've been working on strength and speed to increase his overall athleticism.

Golson's plan is still to return to ND next season.

i hope he comes back next and just blows up in the Heisman race. As a RS freshman, he showed a lot of promise, he will be 2 years older, much more experienced, and he is getting professional instruction on mechanics and QB play.

After a dog of a game like Michigan State, I could read updates on Everett Golson for every minute of every day up until kickoff of the OU game. Can't get enough.
