Miami Hurricanes offensive lineman Seantrel Henderson is rumored to be transferring to Minnesota for family reasons, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press' Charley Walters. Henderson is the St. Paul Cretin-Derham star who had Ohio State in his top two coming out of high school before signing with Southern California. He backed out of his commitment at USC and signed with Miami after the Pac-10 school got into trouble with the NCAA.

Family reasons ... like dad found a better rap environment in Minnesota than LA or South Beach?

After Southern Cal and Miami I figured the next likely stop would be FSU or Tennessee.

Away from the distractions perhaps Minnesota will enable him to focus on what's important.

I agree. All this media hype BS really went to his head. He is wasting god given talent right now.

Seanthrell obviously values his word as his bond. Because whenever that kid commits to something he stays committted to the end. Nice to see today's youth with strong values.

Sorry to report that it's currently snowing in Minneapolis.

I no longer give a rat's patootie where he plays. I worry about my back if I have to shovel more wet, heavy snow.

WOW! Once a person has back surgery the stats are against you to fully recover. Would not wish this on anyone!

The first part is the truth!!! However, I am not as good a person as you SouthWest. I have a list of people I would like to see suffer through it. Lol, jk. It is rough, from prsonal experience, to recover from if you have spinal fusion. Body rejecting it & infection is more common than I was led to believe. (Just had 3rd surgery in the past year because of that). However, microdiscectomy is pretty simple (considering back surgery) & recovery is pretty quick (6 months to be back to 100%). Minimum invasiveness as they only make a small one to two inch incision. I have saw several folks have this procedure done while I have been trekking to the doc. I have yet to see any of those folks have any comPlications. They didn't even have to rehab. I have no idea what type of surgery he's having done, but I am guessing microdiscectomy because doc told me 18 mos for recovery if I had no I have to wait 3 months before starting rehab & made it 10 weeks after first, 6 after second. This is VERY common with fusion I have now found out (started rehab last week & 3 guys in rehab have had the same problem). I hope for his sake that it's only a ruprudes disc & they are going in and removing the damaged disc. Sorry for rambling. Up doing some stretching exercises because lying still for over two hours is HELLL!

Excellent post BIGD, thanks for educating me on this...did not know this. And to add I don’t care too much for this kid because of his dad...seems like the dad is manipulating his son for his rap career.

@caneswatch: Al Golden says Seantrel Henderson has to "get personal house in order." Does not expect him to play vs, BC.

Hasn't been at practices but is still "with the team."

There's an article up on Rivals that says Henderson showed up late for camp, got in a car accident and had to sit out, and has been home twice for funerals.

Sounded like he's using this things as excuses to not put in the work and that he doesn't even like playing football. Apparently he's told that to Miami students at frat parties.

He sounds like Andre Agassi, for those of you familiar with his life story, or more towards football, somewhat like Ricky Williams when he went on his weed and meditation tilt. He's probably known little outside of the pad and helmet for most of his life and for one reason or another, he's burned out and/or resents the status is holds in his life.

I hope he is able, as Andre has done in his later years, to understand the opportunities it can give him. That it can be a blessing or a curse in his life, and its role in that regard is up to him.

I don't have any investment in the kid, and in that regard if he succeeds or fails will have no measurable impact on my life. But with all due respect to Bill Simmons and the ESPN Films people, I'd be just fine without another "tale of talent wasted/unfulfilled" story.

The biggest question is...will his dad still perform rap songs at half time during games?

One of the biggest wastes of football talent I can remember...total headcase, and thinking back on his recruitment and family involvement quite easy to see why.

No explanation yet, but apparently "quit" halfway through his pro day workout.

Whenever a rival lands a 5-Star, I catch myself hoping they just got the next Seantrel.
