In truth, Beau, "Gentlemen's Club" is not as private as you think. The ability to add to the discussion is restricted to members, but viewing is open to anyone who cares to click on it. I suppose that puts moderator supervision and intervention in something of a "situational ethics" sphere. I check in on your band of merry miscreants on occasion without paying dues or wearing the official blazer with the "I'm Not a Deviant, Just an Art Lover" patch on the left breast pocket.

Depp would make a good YoungerShans. He'd have no qualms about bleaching his hair to approximate my salt, chlorine (swimmer) and sun pummeled Florida hair. I'd prefer Paul Newman as an OlderShans (with those riveting blue eyes), but he had to go and die on me. I still like his salad dressings and spaghetti sauces.

Part deux:

We had over 500 show. The remaining 2 kegs and 3 cases of cheap wine were supplemented in the course of the night by donations and booze runs. We also collected donations for George Harrison's fund for relief for Bangladesh.

The priest in charge of the dorm, who wasn't at all happy when we tested my sound system Friday afternoon, told me that "this party won't happen." I replied "it's been set in motion, it's been promoted in The Observer and can't be stopped." He chose to go out of town for the weekend. It helped that we were tipped off that the Kampus Kops were headed to bust us at about 2 AM for the "noise" we were "broadcasting" all over campus. I shut off the feed to the guitar amps (to the dismay of many sitting and listening by the lake) and turned down the indoor volume before they showed up.

I thus avoided being tossed out of the dorm or possibly expelled.

You might like this: the 3 keg party (at Holy Cross Hall on a hill overlooking St. Mary's Lake) was a "Beatles' Festival) in the spring. We played all of the Beatles' albums. First to last in my second floor room at one end of the hall and last to first in a room at the other end of the hall. I wired my amp to guitar amps at each end of the dorm facing the lake and the music could be heard across the entire campus. We had funding (all of $50) from the Student Government Social Fund. I had the albums plus some Christmas greetings to fan club members on 45's (provided by fellow students) on reel-to-reel tape. Hell, I was even loaned some cassette tapes (a relatively new format) of a rehearsal session for the Abbey Road album loaned to me by a classmate who lived in London for a while and was invited to "sit in" by Sir Paul. I didn't tape them (dammit!) since McCartney made it clear that the tapes were to be for the guy's personal use.
