Personal fouls, poor gap defense, bad technique, ....

I'm not trying to diminish his potential or impact. I'm trying to make people realize his value comes strictly in passing situations. In running situations, we have better DEs on our roster.

He doesn't need us. He can go to Houston or Hawai'i or any school that runs a 4-3 and go to the NFL. We need him a lot more than he needs us; and BK still opted not to pander to him. What does that tell you?

I think all of what you point out reflects a young man who is still developing physically and mentally. He needs us because he will be treated like a man and not a piece of meat that some young men are treated like in the slaughterhouse of modern day college football. His mom realizes that...hence her efforts. I just hope Aaron does.

That's some good food for thought. I never really considered it from that angle. Have a rep.

I truly don't think I would want him back. After hearing that other players felt that he was being babied by the coaches, this would only add to that problem. Move along now.

oh yea...

2nd chances. If he wants back and BK accepts, he's got my vote. We've all had them, we've all needed them. No difference here.

And to add to that, if I may....if he does ask, and I'm speaking hypothetically, if he does ask to be allowed to return to the team, his teammates may have as much say in his return as anybody else does. Ultimately, he quit on them, therefore it may come down to them if he were to ask to return.

I understand people make mistakes but just remember, he flip flopped during the recruiting cycle before. I just hate the drama he keeps causing. It doesnt look good on the team or the coaches. BK gave him time to think about what he truly wanted and he came up with his decision to transfer. Why do we feel we have to start recruiting him again? He is gone and now its time to forget and move on. He is a GREAT player and it sucks to lose someone of his caliber but He had doubts before coming to ND and now he pulls this. We got depth at this position and they are players that want to be at ND and are working their asses off. Something tells me we will be just fine. O and I just saw this as well...

The problem I see is this: maybe Aaron could be convinced to stay if he were re-recruited, but nobody at ND seems interested in re-recruiting him, and rightfully so. From ND's perspective, Aaron would probably have to beg to come back, and I don't see that happening. Ultimately, I doubt Aaron will be at ND next year. But crazier things have happened - involving Notre Dame, within the last year or so.

This is what I've been trying to say for pages, but not saying it nearly as succinctly as you just did.

BG put this out there as well. I'm assuming it's the same SBtrib story.

Blue and Gold News ‏ @BGInews
Rockne's Roundtable: Former #NotreDame DE & All-Pro Justin Tuck planning to talk with Aaron Lynch per @SBTribune South Bend Tribune: Justin Tuck plans to meet with Aaron Lynch #fb

There will be absolutely 0 fvcks given by me about this whole situation. In my mind. He's gone. He didn't want to be here, he doesn't want to be here and he was bringing others around him down. Some posted previously the Ewing theory which I thing is very appropriate for this situation. Google it if you aren't aware of what it is.

To go along with what RI just said, sure, maybe we could convince him to stay. The weather is getting better in SB and the sun is shinning off the dome so things aren't to dreary during the summer. But when winter hits again next year, this will all start over. It's like when I work with Alzheimer's patients. They are all cheery and happy in the morning and early afternoon, but once that sun starts to go down, there is a drastic change in mood and affect. Sundowner's messes you up man and AL might really need that FL weather to stay happy.

I can't believe Tuck, who probably has alot of demand for his time while in the bend, is going to sit and talk with AL. Seems like a pretty nice thing to do.

Quotes by Tuck...

“I plan on talking to Aaron today sometime,” he said Friday morning. “But I am not going to try to convince him that he needs to stay here; I am just going to see where his mind’s at.

“And if he feels as though his heart is not into playing with Notre Dame, I wish him well anywhere he goes."

If he wanted to stay, Aaron would have to fix a lot of things, and I just don't see that happening.

+1 for Mr. Tuck.

We should all have this mindset. If his heart isn't in it, wish him well. But to convince someone otherwise would be wrong, because this time next year, we're having the same convo. You shouldn't need to be "convinced" to stay at ND.

I hope to see Aaron on the field for ND next fall, but if not, I'll be a fan wherever he goes. He's fun to watch play.

If he doesn't listen it's on him... I wish the best for him and after talking to alot of friends about AL they all agree...Stick with it young man you never no what to future holds...But if you make your future it's all in your hands.. So many NFL guys are in 5-8 good yrs then some end up Broke b/c they didn't look ahead..

This is beginning sounds like a high school relationship to me. Someone does something really stupid and says "omg totes a quitter! hate you!" Butttttt you also talk to a mutual acquaintance and rely that yeah, you'd be willing to get back together if you said you were in it for the long haul.

I mean, the same type of crap goes on from middle school playground relationships to international politics a la US/USSR. All about the backchannels, and Tuck is more than likely going to say what Kelly has told him to say: If you're all in for Notre Dame and are sorry, come back crawling on your knees and receive your penance. I'm willing to get over this. If not....well GTFOOHWTS.

Again, I have to marvel at this story. It has been jaw-dropping entertainment from the first time Alice chose to post here right up 'til this moment. I don't know what to think to tell you the truth. But I do kow this, nobody can accuse Mama Lynch of being anything short of 100% Irish.

Exactly RI. Lynch seems very stubborn and I couldn't see him going to the coaches and begging to be allowed back.
