Mike Emrick would be my guy to replace Hammond. Best announcer in sports imo.

I love Scott Van Pelt, so hopefully he leaves ESPN for NBC Sports.
But, I've never heard him do football and I'm not sure that he would be very good at it.
Doc is pretty much exclusive to hockey, no? But I agree that he is the best announcer in sports
I love SVP. One of the only ESPNers I actually like. While not always successful, should we start a prayer pic thread?
Jim Rome went to CBS. He isn't anything like what NBC wants their brand to be.
Is Gus Johnson available?
Apparently Michele Beadle's contract runs out in July and doesn't want to return to ESPN. She is also being pursued by NBC

Why are so many defections happening over at ESPN?

Gus Johnson then the rest. I really like Doc Emerick but I think he's exclusively hockey. I really like Sam Rosen but he's better at hockey then football. SVP is not a play by play guy. Love his show though. For football, either Gus Johnson, Mike Patrick, or the guy that's with Todd Blackledge. Name slips me at the moment.
they wanted to go back to Florida...
Mike Patrick is just plain awful nowadays. Plus, it really pissed me off when he was leading the crusade for ESPN against Mike Leach.
Verne's my favorite play-by-play guy for college football. Brad Nessler is probably 2nd for me. Hammond is 987,989,769,847,369,826,745,267,487,109,874,532,786,890,858,374,829,386,582,535,757,803,258,573,973,235,702,353,875,503,605,603,508,576rd on my list.
there are but three eternal truths
1) never start a land war in Asia
2) never trust a Sicilian
3) Tom Hammonds is the suckiest tranny ever to grace a football broadcast and a pile of sheep poo would provide better commentary.
yep - I can never remember the third but I am pretty sure this one was in the original script.
So... is anyone else excited to hear Hammond announce the Blue & Gold game?
T Television coverage can be found on NBC Sports Network and the announcers for the game are Paul Burmeister (play-by-play), Mike Mayock (analysis) and Alex Flanagan (sideline).
